NC police department urges residents to turn in their guns

The Greensboro, North Carolina police department wants to make residents safer by disarming them.

The department held a turn-in Saturday and invited citizens to sign a “non-violence” pledge and hand over their guns.

    Heh!......Drugs can make you do and say the stupidest things.

    Now we know where those drugs that have been disappearing from the evidence locker have been going.

    While all of the above is a good thing, disarming, not so much. Being disarmed just makes it easier for you to be dead. I also suspect that were firearms to be turned in to the police, some of them would "disappear". I can see some cheap crap being "disappeared" as to provide a throw away gun to plant at a crime, to justify the LEO shooting or arresting some one. Or, a high quality firearm "disappearing" into the private collection of some LEO or politician. What could possibly go wrong with a situation of hand gun that still is registered, but now is off the official books? The reason for having a firearm is to insure non-violence. If you don't want to get shot, then leave me alone. I suspect the real goal is to make it safer for the police dept to do what ever they want to, knowing the public is disarmed. BTW, Chicago is basically a disarmed city. So how well is that working out for them? Or Paris?

    What NCarolinian in his right mind would follow such request? None....interested to know how many were turned in and should've held a counter-offer to turn them into me for $5 each.....
