If an 80-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

ReplyDeleteIt's a common mistake, but one that is serious enough that it must be challenged and corrected whenever it appears.
We do NOT have a "Constitutional right" to defend ourselves!
We have an UNALIENABLE right to life and liberty, which of necessity, implies an equally unalienable right to have and employ weapons, including military grade firearms.
The primary purpose of our divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America is to limit the power and authority of our federal government, lest national democratic benevolence become unbearable tyranny.
The purpose of Amendment II to our divinely inspired Constitution of the United States of America is to ensure that we, the people, always have the practical means to rise up in open, armed rebellion and violently overthrow our own government, should conditions warrant such action.
By the way, when writing or speaking, I repeatedly use the phrase, "our divinely inspired" Constitution of the United States of America, which frequently upsets those who deny the Christian faith.
In my chosen faith, The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints (i.e., the "Mormon" church), we believe that the Constitution of the United States of America was indeed divinely inspired, and written by men whom God had raised up for that very purpose.

DeleteMoreover, I'm just a proud Tarheel Redneck who attended four 1-12 public schools and three state universities without hearing Second Amendment or Natural Rights mentioned. I presume all men have always has those rights, but unless their Governments affirmed them they did well not to use them unless in a militia sized group.
