Charlottesville Vice-Mayor calls for removal of the RE Lee equestrian statue, and wants the park renamed

Charlottesville's vice mayor is calling on City Council to take down a statue honoring Confederate general Robert E. Lee and rename the park that surrounds it.

Vice Mayor Wes Bellamy and his supporters will hold a press conference in Lee Park on Tuesday. Bellamy says this is a chance for the community to stand together to show the city that it's time for change.

He says the Robert E. Lee statue has symbolized a lot of different things since it was installed in 1924. Bellamy believes city leaders need to take action when anyone in the community feels disrespected. (What a joke.)

  1. Will "city leaders need to take action" when WE feel disrespected? He doesn't really mean "anyone in the community". (What a joke is right)

  3. I've got a better idea and advice for all the special little snowflakes, who are experiencing butt-hurt at the sight of that statue. First grow up and get a life. Second realize that feeling disrespected or offended is a choice. So you just might want to take a look at yourself first before throwing a hissy fit. Here is a freebie for you lefties, progressives and SJWs, if you want to make me an unforgiving enemy for life, just get in my face and into my business by telling me (ordering) what to think and what to be "offended" by.

In my never to be humble opinion, Robert E. Lee was one of the greatest Americans this country has ever produced. He is THE standard that any male who desires to be a real man, a noble hard core badass and at the exact same time a Christian gentleman, should spend his life typing to be like. This the FUSA, would be a very different country and culture, if more men endeavored to have the character of Robert E. Lee. What we need is more, not fewer symbols of him. If the vice mayor want to take some thing down, lets start with those of FRD, MLK, and of course the tyrant Lincoln (a government of, by and for the people coming out of his mouth, now there is pure BS at its' finest).

  5. When someone has an issue with the character of Robert E. Lee I think the problem lies with them.

  6. Another Confederate symbol which will bite the dust. The
scum won't quit until they get their communist way - and
the day will surely come when America will be a thing of
the past. Oh, but diversity of people is acceptable.

General Lee and General Patton were the greatest generals.
We have a beast problem in America.

  7. Hey ! The governor of Virginia is clearing the way for "local" governments to remove the monuments by vetoing a protection bill aimed at just such monuments . At least NC had the balls to pass a similar bill to law
