Over the weekend China used the Trump inauguration to warn about the perils of democracy, touting the relative stability of the Communist system as President Xi Jinping heads toward a twice-a-decade reshuffle of senior leadership posts.

Without directly referencing the new president, China wrote that democracy has reached its limits, and deterioration is the inevitable future of capitalism, according to the People’s Daily, the flagship paper of China’s Communist Party. It devoted an entire page on Sunday to critiquing Western democracies, quoting former Chairman Mao Zedong’s 1949 poem asking people to "range far your eyes over long vistas" and saying the ultimate defeat of capitalism would enable Communism to emerge victorious.

"The emergence of capitalism’s social crisis is the most updated evidence to show the superiority of socialism and Marxism," said one of the People’s Daily articles.

"Western style democracy used to be a recognized power in history to drive social development. But now it has reached its limits," said another article on the same page. "Democracy is already kidnapped by the capitals and has become the weapon for capitalists to chase profits."

  3. The irony of it all! Hey China, if you want to see an evil capitalist chasing after profits, take a look in the mirror. Look at a label of almost any item and there is a very high probability it will say: Made in China. The reason why Western style democracy has reached its limits, is because that same democracy has/is replacing itself for the failed political and economic policies of socialism. One of the reasons for the decline of the FUSA, is the notion that an all powerful central government, in this case Washington DC, ought to dictate down to the smallest detail (e.g. what kind of light bulb you may use in your house, or how many gallons are enough to flush your toilet with) how the rest of the country should be permitted to live their lives. The FUSA is a neo-socialist nation, and as such is failing.

  4. If leaving the elderly to live in pet cages and boiling Rover alive are hallmarks of success, then I'll stick with capitalism, Xi Jinping Marx.

  5. So, we get to bring our troops home, keep our tax money in the US and China gets Africa, Israel and the Middle East and ISIS? Sounds like a deal.

  6. They forget the part about if they were any good at leading, other countries would already be following them. Being big and strong doesn't make you the leader. Personally, I don't see Japan, South Korea or the Philippines ever looking to China for leadership. Vietnam isn't going to forget that China invaded them after America left. Heck, even the other China (Taiwan) doesn't want to follow them. maybe they can form a regional partnership with Tuvalu.
