Kalashnikov Showcases New Rifles, Pistol at ARMY-2017

DefenseWebTV and Kalashnikov released an interesting video filmed at the recent ARMY-2017 International Military Technical Forum. The representative from Kalashnikov, Vladmir Onokoy, discussed the new AM-17/AMB-17 compact assault rifle, SVCh semi-automatic sniper rifle, TB 2, KSV 12.7mm sniper rifle, and PL-15/PL-15K semi-automatic pistols.

From watching the video, it appears that Kalashnikov will continue the trend towards modernizing its rifles with a heavy Western influence. This trend is evident by the modular design, collapsible polymer stocks, MIL-STD/1913 Picatinny rails, infrared lights, and lasers.

  1. I. WANT. ONE. BUT: It still has the same disadvantage as all other "assault weapons". Range. I can still dig in on a hill side with my Garand or any good .30 cal. (.308, 30.06. .300Win. Mag.) and own those guys. Being able to "stand off" well outside the 300 meter effective range of ALL "assault rifle" ammunition,(and most human eyesight) is a priceless, and often overlooked, advantage.---Ray
