The Difensa (named for the famous battle fought by the Canadian / US First Special Service Force during WWII in Italy) is an excellent choice for all around field or battlefield use. We and William Harsey were asked to make a knife for a Canadian special operations force that would serve them well in the north woods of their homeland and on worldwide deployments alike. We believe we have met and exceeded their goals, by creating a combat knife that does everything it should. The spear point profile is flat ground with a tapered top edge that provides for an excellent cutting edge with good tip strength and penetration balance. The Difensa's full tang and handle provide for neutral balance in the users hand. The ergonomic and textured canvas Micarta handle was modified from our Model II (no rear jimping), and provides for a comfortable confident grip when wet or dry.

    1. Didn't know that and it seems you can't get it for less than $425.

    2. Ever drink in Legends, Matt? (I do when I'm over that side of the pond - reasonably priced beer and some of the best hot wings I've ever had.)

  2. I wonder if they could make a model that could sell for less.
Maybe different steel, no coating, etc.
I wish them well, but at 425, I just don't think they'll sell very many. But then, I'm not in the high-end knife business, so I could be completely wrong.

    1. I guess they won't allow anyone to sell it for less than their price.

  3. SenecaIII, sometimes....mostly we do Southern Pines Brewery or the Rail House. Hi end knives Over 150 do very well, the price is most likely "MAP" or a minimum advertised price.

    1. Haven't hit either of those, Matt, although sometimes I do go to O'Donnall's, particulary when the Rugby is on screen. I often stop off at betsy's Crepes for a bite if I'm in town during the day as well. S III.

  5. $425 is a lot of money. I'll stick with my Ka-Bar.

  6. Sorry I am a day late and a dollar.......

The knife that is in the photo with this article, you couldn't give that piece of sh.. to me!

Ask any scuba diver why. Once I learned of a little fact about diving knives, I applied that same reasoning with surface knifes.

    Ok, sorry here it is......

Ever try to cut something thick underwater with a knife that doesn't have a serrated edge? Try it some day, while you are at it, pretend you are stuck underwater and the tank is about empty.

    1. Strange that none of their knives are serrated. Even my pocket knives are. I used to dive (until I lost my voice box)and know exactingly what you are talking about. Thanks.

    1. Meh, I've had my Winkler Belt Knife for years and it's bar-none the best. Truly been there and back over and over and has never failed but if it ever does, Winkler has a no bullshit guarantee.

  8. Angel Swords claims to make strong swords as well as knives. I don't know what to make of the company: http://www.angelswords.com/

The website has changed, but a few years ago there were some super expensive knives for sale. The one you posted is even pricier than what I was wanting to reference.

    1. Thanks and didn't see knives on their current website.

    2. The website is poorly designed.

If you click the 3rd picture, you see a knife come up. But many of their knives seem to be artistic. Are they also functional? In the past, they had marketed a set of modern combat knives I'd considered buying.

The guy seems somewhat like a conman to me, but his swords are also beautiful. So, I'm undecided as to what to make of his shop.

I'm not someone who spends loads on art, and much "art" today I find ugly. But I did like some of his swords.

Quote: "from there, the steel undergoes a tempering process where it is heated and quenched to give it the hardness and toughness required in a combat weapon. Angel Sword recently added a cryogenic processing unit to our forge. After tempering the steel, we use our patent-pending Therma-Cycle™ processing to enhance our steel at the molecular level, improving uniformity and relieving stress in the steel’s crystalline matrix. This combined process is the reason Angel Sword makes the toughest, high-hardness blades on the planet."
