Last week, the Department of Justice finally admitted that the IRS unfairly targeted Tea Party groups under Barack Obama. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the IRS had agreed to a settlement with the groups that were improperly targeted.

This admission of guilt was certainly a long time coming. However, Republican lawmakers want more than just a halfhearted apology. On Monday, Rep. Vern Buchanan, chairman of the oversight subcommittee responsible for the IRS, called for the DOJ to revisit prosecuting IRS official Lois Lerner, who in 2013 was the head of the division responsible for handling applications for nonprofit status.

“Lerner betrayed the nation’s trust yet managed to avoid prosecution,” Buchanan said. “Heads should roll and people should be held accountable for this gross abuse of power.”

“An apology five years after the fact is not good enough,” he added.

  1. Never gonna happen. She will die before any serious court proceedings. She knows way too much to be allowed into court as a defendant. Clinton and Obama could never take the chance she would flip.
