Kassam: The Republican Swamp Got the Loss they Wanted, Now They’re Going to Try and Tame Us

True, but doesn't explain the many Virginia House of Delegate seats the Dems won.   Foreboding for next year unless the R's get off their butts.  As someone stated the other day, the R's might as well give the D's the majority if they don't pass legislation as they will lose it next year anyway.

2018 Generic Congressional Vote Democrats +9.8

***************************

Earlier on Tuesday, Republicans Under Notional Terms (RUNTs) like Bill Kristol and Evan McMullin took to social media to discourage people thinking of voting for Ed Gillespie.

They wouldn’t have made a massive impact, if any, in the race. But they got what they really wanted: a Democrat Virginia Governor, an “upset” for the Republican Party under Trump, and a chance to pretend “this is a sign we need moderate candidates!”

Bizarrely — laughably even — the pair decided that former lobbyist Ed Gillespie was TOO pro-Trump. Ha!

The truth couldn’t be more opposite if it tried. Gillespie, as Trump noted late on Tuesday night, was scarcely a MAGA candidate. And the operation the Virginia GOP put down in the state was nowhere near the Obama for America-style blitzkrieg campaign they needed to win.

  1. Yesterday's election proved nothing. In Virginia Democrat replaced a Democrat. In New Jersey a Democrat replaced a Republican, but it's surprising a Republican was a sitting governor. A few transgender candidates were elected which just shows how screwed up this country have become. The bottom line is that the elections gave Democratic morale a boast but accomplished little else. However, if the Republican congressmen (and women) don't get their act together the results of the next election could be significant. If I was running I'd sure want Trump to help my campaign.

  2. They just are not getting it. I support President Trump. If you run as a republican, I am staying home. I'd rather have a democrat have the seat than a lying republican. If you run as a Trump supporting republican, I'll be there to vote. I talk to a lot of other President Trump supporters. All have basically the same feelings I do. HEY GOP! It is this simple, Support President Trump, or go home. I have ZERO reason to elect a republican that votes like a democrat.
