Catalonia election: Separatists regain control of parliament, reopening crisis with Madrid

Via Billy

People react to results in Catalonia's regional elections.

Catalonia's separatist leader Carles Puigdemont has regained leadership of the region, with pro-independence parties taking a majority in regional parliament elections.

The result is a blow to Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who sacked Mr Puigdemont two months ago for holding an independence referendum, reigniting Spain's worst political crisis in decades.

According to the final results, the separatist parties claimed 70 seats in the 135-seat assembly.
