As the news arrived Friday night that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had been fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, I felt a visceral numbness. The announcement had certainly been anticipated. Nonetheless, the expected blow still stunned the senses.
I have known Andy since he was a young SWAT operator on the FBI's New York Office SWAT team that I led as senior team leader. No matter my opinions on some of his actions as deputy director, this humiliatingly drawn-out public flogging had happened to "one of us."

In the 1980's a politically well connected FBI special agent had a love affair with his C.I. while she, AND HE ran a cocaine smuggling ring. In order to cover up his affair (and keep the loot) he tortured her to death , then dumped the body in a septic tank, falsified evidence that framed an innocent. Them lied under oath to try and convict the innocent. When he was caught by the Kentucky State Police the FBI higher ups tried to stage a cover up, starting with destroying a few LEO's careers.(and at least one murder) When that failed, they had the US Att. lower the charges to manslaughter. Even though he has "convicted" he never spent a day in prison and even got to keep his gun. In the early 2000's Paris Hilton got caught with a full Kilo of Heroin. A 9MM pistol and 35,000 dollars in her bag at the airport. The next day the judge dismissed all charges and told her how sorry he was to have troubled her. He ordered her money and pistol returned to Ms. Hilton. The cop who busted her lost his badge. "No one is above the law". RIGHTTTT.... Wake me up when that fantasy comes true.--Ray

DeleteThe FBI "incident" happened in London Kentucky in the 80's. There has been an ongoing effort ever since by FBI bosses to make the whole story go away. It is one of those "forgotten" news story's from the drug war. Paris Hiltons drug bust took place in Los Vegas. CNN and "other" outlets reported it as a "minor incident" in a night club. It actually happened when a LVPD patrol officer saw her take the 9MM out of her bag then put it back INSIDE the airport terminal.(the officer said later that he didn't know who she was or he would never have stopped her) She claimed that the drugs, gun and cash were her boyfriends. At the bail hearing the next morning the judge dismissed all charges and gave her back "her property".(no word if she got the Heroin back. But it was logged into evidence. Then back out and vanished 12 hours later.) He (the judge) really did offer a public apology in open court. The boyfriend, who wasn't in Vegas at the time. WAS charged, and got a felony conviction and six months in rehab--along with a new car, house, and 1 million USD. He never got a day in jail. Nice work if you can get it. Yes sir there ARE people in America that are "above the law".--Ray
