Deputy Chief Border Patrol Agent Says ‘Fences and Walls’ Not Enough To Curb Illegal Immigration

Deputy Chief Border Patrol Agent Roy Villarea told Fox News on Monday that in his 30 years as an agent, he has never witnessed what agents are facing today at the border.

In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” he said that the border is being “overwhelmed with migrants, principally family units and children and then people that are from countries other than Mexico.”

Villarea told the news station that “for the first time in Border Patrol history,” most of the illegals authorities are capturing aren’t from the United States’ southern neighbor.

  1. Nor is the Wall, or a strong tall barrier fence, the only option We have the technology to light the entire border, to surveil, to defend, to repel, when needed. What with the terrain changes along our border there would have to be many different technologies employed just to keep a straight fence. Unlike China's Great wall which doesn't actually sit on their National border, ours would have to be built straight for literally hundreds of miles. If it were to be kept level at the top, the structure would have to be 100 feet high or more in a lot of places. If they build high it requires a wider foundation, The terrain challenges alone are astronomical in difficulty and expense. We understand. It would be a tough job. But so was winning two world wars, building the first atomic bomb, hypersonic flight, and then going to the friggin moon. STEP UP TO THE PLATE AMERICA. WE GOT THIS!

  2. It doesn't matter how big or sturdy a barrier is built. Anything we can build the Invaders can....and will...breach. The border MUST be defended by force, deadly force. If we aren't willing to kill Invaders then they WILL invade us. If we kill 50 at the border the message will be sent and they will stop coming. Every year hundreds die trying to navigate the desert....killing a few dozen would end the invasion AND save lives.

  3. If sound cannons don't flatten them, start shooting. Consider it range time.

  4. If we spent a tiny fraction of the cost (which continues) in Middle East wars, a wall could have or still could be built. Of course, we were told those wars were necessary because we had to "fight'em (kill'em) there, so we don't have to fight'em here". On top of that, thousands of our young military were killed or maimed while their own country was allowed to undergo INVASION, by those who sent them abroad to die!! Yet, many politicians think it horrible that the military be used to defend our own nation's borders???!! And the Constitution demands: "the United States....SHALL....protect the States against Invasion". (Article IV, Section 4) --Ron W

    2. Accusations of "treason" have been thrown around toward the President, but allowing the nation to undergo invasion and then appeasing and accommodating the invaders fits the Constitutional definition in Article III, Section 3 of "giving their (the States') enemies (invaders) aid and comfort". --Ron W
