Trump on Tuesday said he directed White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to stop holding regular briefings, citing unfair treatment by the news media.

“The reason Sarah Sanders does not go to the ‘podium’ much anymore is that the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press,” Trump tweeted. “I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway!”

  1. Teaching the press that rudeness has consequences. The consequence is that their coveted special WH press pass and access now counts for nothing. They can all read about it on Twitter at the same time as anyone else. The press secretary works as an advisor to the president. She isn't there to feed the press with sound bites and answer their ridiculous loaded question.

  2. It is sad, but this is actually true. Sarah Sanders time would be better spent in her office crafting press releases and writing speeches for the president, or studying what is going on with areas of concern for the president, to keep him up to date with the issues of the day. I always liked her, thought she was one of the bright spots of the administration, and felt like she was a true believer of the Trump administration.
I noted the picture of the helicopter next to the edge carrying wounded from the battle of An Loc. I lately have been reading a few non fiction books and articles about the Vietnam conflict, and so it sort of grabbed me. My uncle served as a lifer in the Army, and was in both Korea and Vietnam. He was a communications man, so he installed comms lines, etc. He didn't see any fighting in Vietnam, but in Korea, he was involved in one firefight, when the Chinese came down from the north. He told me, when we were deer hunting one time, that he had an M1 carbine, and he shot a Chinese guy 3 times in the chest, the man had one of those sort of quilted vests on, and he saw the dust fly off at each shot, from around 100 yards, and the man kept on coming. Eventually the guy fell down, but my uncle said that was the only time he was ever scared over in any other country.
I say all of this to tell you, if you served in the military, I thank you very much. And I mean it, it is not just a thing to say. I did not serve, I had a hearing issue and could not inlist, but for those who did, I am truly grateful.

  3. I wouldn't want her job. With streaming and social media I see no need for a White House Press Corps. Few of them are journalists anymore and most are simply Democratic operatives. Get rid of them and move on.
