Bolton: North Korea 'not willing to do what they needed to do' for nuclear deal

White House national security adviser John Bolton hammered North Korea in an interview broadcast Sunday, saying the country's leader Kim Jong Un was unwilling to take the necessary steps to reach a nuclear deal with the U.S.

“The North Koreans were unfortunately not willing to do what they needed to do. Just last night they issued an unhelpful statement that they’re thinking of going back to nuclear and ballistic missile testing, which would not be a good idea on their part,” Bolton told radio host John Catsimatidis on AM 970 in New York.

  1. Kim will not lose his nuclear defenses as dictated by bellicose Americans as he has seen what has happened to Hussein, Ghadaffi and others disliked by the empire. We hear little if anything about his request that the US eventually pull troops and weapons out of South Korea, and leave Koreans to settle Korean issues themselves. We must realize that we are simply an imperialist power determined to retain our colony based in Seoul. Kim is the real Korean nationalist in this question.

    1. He must keep some as a defensive threat and I see no way he will give up all and he shouldn't.

  2. Well the good news is North Korea stopped testing for a while. If he starts to reactivate his nuclear program it will be time to tighten the screws again.

IMO Kim can give up his nuclear arsonal. He can destroy Seoul with artillary fire, so the South Koreans won't attack, and China will provide an umbrella against a US attack. The need to maintain nucs is nill. If he sets aside his ego and paranoia North Korea could prosper.

  3. Also, Kim sees the effect of 60 years of American culture on the south and wants his country united. It is the US that absolutely devastated and leveled the entire peninsula, and now Trump tells Kim his country can be like Las Vegas. Look at what we did to all of Vietnam, the destruction, deformed children, and hatred of Americans and their "progress." Sad.

  4. And, because of these US, North Korea had to move underground.
