I wish them the worst of luck.

Dick’s Sporting Goods will stop selling guns at 440 additional stores this year, escalating the company’s methodical elimination of firearms from its stores.

The move follows a series of decisions at Dick’s to scale back gun sales. A few days after the Parkland, Florida, school shooting in February 2018, the company announced it would stop selling semi-automatic weapons like the one used in the event.

A few months later, Dick’s pulled firearms and hunting accessories from 10 stores as a test. The company then pulled guns and ammunition from 125 additional stores in March 2019.

  1. Dick's is totally abolishing their whole reason for existing.
They might as well shut their doors.

    1. They say they are making up the difference in other items like shoes which aren't on my purchase list.

  2. Are they even getting rid of their "hunting rifles" and shotguns? It's been a long time since Charles Whitman committed a mass murder with a hunting rifle from the Univ of Texas Tower in 1966, a bolt action, can't recall if it was scoped.

Dick's used to have some good sales on guns and especially ammo. I've gotten some really good buys there on Federal 7.62x51 and Remington 9 mm. --Ron W

    1. I am sure. I've only bought two knives from them before but there are many fish in the sea, as my Mother would say about girls, but the same applies to gun shops! :)

    2. Oh yeah! There's an Academy Sports just diagonally across the road from the Dick's nearest me. But my local gun shop, actually a gun store, is just a half mile from my house and another one just down south in the next town before I could get to Academy Sports. I do like to buy ammo at Academy when I go down that way.

  3. Dick's, it's not just their name...it's who they are.

    Y'all have a nice day.

  4. Media hype or fact? Heard this AM on local Fox News: "Dicks just beat revenue expectations".

    1. Can't be sure but that was mentioned in the article also.

    2. Key word here is "expectations." So, if you project your income will drop by 50% and it remains the same you have just beat "expectations", and done it by a whopping percentage. See how easy that was?

It always reminds of of a quote from Mark Twain...

"There are lies, damned lies and statistics."

  5. This sounds like a win-win situation to me. Dick's says they don't want me to come to their store to spend my money on guns. I am very happy to honor their wishes, by spending my money some where else. Get "woke", go broke. By the way, with no guns to look at, that leaves me with zero incentive to visit their store.
