“Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” will be performed live or played before “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to each NFL game during Week 1 and the league is considering putting names of victims of police brutality on helmet decals or jersey patches, a person familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press.
The person said the league is working collaboratively with players to recognize victims of systemic racism throughout the season in a variety of ways. The person spoke to the AP on Thursday on condition of anonymity because discussions between the league and the NFL Players Association are ongoing.

DeleteHi, George from the UK here. Don't know anything about the attendance of games in the USA so could someone tell me, what's the percentage of white people to non-white people at these games? I'm trying to figure out if this league wants to play in front of empty stadia or if there will still be a full crowd for games, if they go ahead with this. What do you think?

DeleteI had heard of "Juneteenth" years ago. It was mainly a Texas commemoration of the 1863 Emancipation which they didn't hear about until 1865. But then the Emancipation Proclamation was only a PR campaign, a tactical war measure, as admitted by Lincoln and his Sec of State, William Seward. It was directed toward the States "still in rebellion" (secession) and not to Union States like Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland and Delaware. The U.S. Supreme Court had ruled slavery legal in 1857 with the Dred Scott decision and a presidential proclamation does NOTHING. Slavery was not ended until the enactment of the 13th Amendment Dec 1865 and later in 1866 the 14th Amendment was enacted to make black people full citizens.Search Dr. Walter Williams column "Historical Ignorance" in which he quotes Lincoln and Seward. All of this insanity is based upon ignorance, bigotry and hate. --Ron W
