PEPÉ CANCELED: ‘Le Pew’ Cut from New Movie After Being Accused of Promoting ‘Rape Culture’

A new report from the Hollywood Reporter confirmed this week that Warner Bros. Studios has axed the character ‘Pepé Le Pew’ from ‘Space Jam’ -an upcoming movie starring NBA superstar LeBron James.

“RW blogs are mad bc I said Pepe Le Pew added to rape culture,” wrote one NY Times columnist. “Let’s see. 1. He grabs/kisses a girl/stranger, repeatedly, w/o consent and against her will. 2. She struggles mightily to get away from him, but he won’t release her 3. He locks a door to prevent her from escaping.”

  1. I'll be honest, the NYT columnist in question, Charles M. Blow, was not what I first expected. But he does check two secondary boxes.

  2. So yeah, Captain Obvious here. The mic drop obvious joke that all us little kids got on Saturday mornings was that the objects of PEPÉ Le Pew's affections weren't trying to escape because he was too forward, or because he was French. They were trying to escape because he STINKS. Like a skunk.

Try this--play the cartoon without sound. Now PEPÉ Le Pew is no longer French, or, anything. So the progs are pissed at a voice? Well then, go dig up Mel Blanc and beat the crap out of him.
