Ford Maverick (Truck)to Get 40 MPG, Compete with SUV and Crossover Market

This isn’t the Ford Maverick you remember. When most of us hear the words: Ford Maverick, usually a compact, sporty, mass-produced, little Ford comes to mind; definitely not a pickup truck. Ford decided to bring back the old nameplate for a new fully hybrid pickup truck.

“The Maverick product proposition is like nothing else out there. It’s a great-looking truck featuring four doors with room for five adults, a standard full-hybrid engine with city fuel economy that beats a Honda Civic***, plenty of towing and hauling for weekend trips or do-it-yourself projects, and it starts under $20,000,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Maverick challenges the status quo and the stereotypes of what a pickup truck can be. We believe it will be compelling to a lot of people who never before considered a truck.”

  1. So they're making a feminine truck. Is it going to have a flower vase on the dash and lighted make up mirrors on the sunvisors?

  3. It a truck for the city and berbs that is not designed for work. It has a smaller bed than my stepside Ford Ranger.

I have too little of a truck now. I can't go smaller.

  4. My 2000 ranger with the small V6 and a Leer top with roof racks is a I'll ever need!

  5. 2000 lb towing capacity? That's not a truck. It's a prius with room for a few sheets of drywall.

    1. I think it will find it's niche.

Ford will offer the optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost® gas engine can tow up to 4,000 pounds, enough to bring a typical 23-foot camper on a weekend getaway
