Only 36 Percent of Young Adults Proud of America: Poll

American pride resonates with most segments of the population, though not with young adults, according to a new poll.

Only 36% of respondents aged 18 to 24 said they were very or extremely proud to be American, a new Issues & Insights/TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics survey found. That made the age group the only tracked demographic in which pride falls below 50%.

The poll found an almost identical percentage (35%) of the 18-24 group saying they are only slightly or not proud at all to be an American.

  2. Polls are like elections, it's who sets the question and who counts the votes.
    We've just had a poll published in Britain where some 70% of the population (yeah right) want to keep compulsory face nappies in shops and on public transport.
    The poll was conducted by Yougov, and has given the result required of it.
    Personally i take not a blind bit of notice of polls, they give the result required of the people who pay for them, in part by asking those likely to give the planned answers.

  4. The 35% most likely had jobs while going to high school and didn't have time to get a 1st place soccer trophy for participation.
