Foundation and roof are in good condition. A new septic system was installed in 2008 and never used; lines to county water have been run to the house but not connected.

My house settling which is no big deal.
What a project this could be! So many original details that you just don’t find these days! How about the faux marbleized baseboards! “Swamplawn”, also known as the Jones Everett House was built in 1850. This Greek Revival is located on five acres in Oak City, North Carolina. The home features original pine floors, wide baseboards, faux marbleized baseboards, high ceilings, two staircases, crown molding, solid wood doors and hand carved moldings. The property has the original commissary, a small cottage and a block storage building. The home even has original windows! Four bedrooms and 4,170 square feet. $65,000

Serious structural issues in at least 2 of those pics. Look above and below the doors. It's in a pretty remote location. Nothing some TLC and cash can't fix.

DeleteI wonder what this house looked like during its hay day.
ReplyDeleteThe house is built on a slope, probably more evident now
then first built. With heavy rains, the slope will only
intensify causing the house to lean more and more.
I wonder what this house looked like during its hay day.
DeleteProbably much like mine though they are older at 1790 (Georgian) and 1810.(Federal)

Just settling and something we all accept. It's 171 years old now.
