25 Individuals Charged in Rocky Mount Cigarette Smuggling and Money Laundering Operation

RALEIGH – G. Norman Acker III, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina announced today that on October 20, 2021, a federal grand jury sitting in the Eastern District of North Carolina returned a sealed, twelve-count indictment charging 24 individuals with a scheme to defraud the federal government, the State of North Carolina, the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the Commonwealth of Virginia, of millions of dollars in tax revenues from the sale of cigarettes.

This investigation is an effort to end large scale tax fraud and to hold these defendants accountable for the millions in lost tax revenue as the result of their illegal scheme.  The individuals charged are:

  2. Over taxing the South via tariffs is why there was a
    war by Northern Aggression. The North was ripping off the South,
    the South had their fed-up moment and decided to go it alone.
    The North surrounded Southern ports to block cotton shipments.

  4. Use to be one could go to Cherokee, NC and buy cigarettes for
    half price of what was being sold elsewhere. I don't believe
    there were taxes. Cherokee is a Indian reservation. People
    came from all over to purchase multiple cartons of cigarettes.
    Of course like everything good, the filth shut it down.
    The military bases also sold cigarettes very cheaply.

  6. Taxation without representation is a problem today much like it has been since our government decided to take more than it needed and hand it out across the globe and use it to pay for the invasion of the country they love to defraud , rule and hate .
