Yes Virginia, Monuments DO Matter - The Elephant in the Polling Booth

Three Virginia localities had monument relocation/removal referendums on their ballot yesterday.  In all three localities, the citizens sent a strong clear message that they do not want their memorials removed.  Each locality  voted overwhelmingly AGAINST monument removal.

In Mathews County, the mandate was a landslide 80% AGAINST removing the Confederate Memorial located at the historic courthouse there. This after a valiant and courageous effort by the Lane-Armistead Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1772 to inform and mobilize local citizens.

In addition, Governor Northam’s pals from his monument destroying administration have all been defeated, with the Democratic candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General losing to Republicans, and Republicans have even taken back the Virginia House of Delegates with a new majority.

  1. Being a resident of Virginia, now that the Republicans will hold power, they need to focus on not just repealing crap the Dems did, but to hold true to Conservative principles and shrink the interference of government into my daily life.

    But I hold no illusions.

Thank God! My lineage from both mother and father dates to the Mayflower and Jamestown. One side of my family has always been in Virginia Both sides fought in the Revolution, the War of 1812, the War Between the States and so on. I believe it is a huge dis-service and it is disrespectful to invalidate the valiant warriors who fought for the Confederacy, because some people think it's inappropriate or politically incorrect. History is history. It cannot be changed. My ancestors who fought for the Confederacy believed they were fighting for States' Rights. Yes, they had slaves, but I do believe many families did, in both the North and the South. Slaves have been talked about throughout history as far back as biblical times. The point is that the valiant warriors who fought for the Confederacy believed they were doing the right thing. These warriors and so many more fought and died for the cause they believed in. These people are our ancestors and we need to respect them. We need to respect and defend what they stood for. We need to learn from them and we need to learn from history. Erasing history is not the answer. I asked myself from the very start of the riots in 2020, who took a vote: who decided unanimously to tear down and deface our monuments? The answer is that a vote was not taken. This is not our Constitutional Republic. This is the CABAL trying to ruin everything again, by turning us against each other. I do believe we will soon find that...
