Deborah, the mom of a boy who went to school with Dixie at Tarborough Edgecombe Academy for many years, had this picture rejected by her service!:) She had left these and more on the back porch at night after our family reunion at Dixieland this year, as a joke for my visiting daughters from California.

Libyan Rebels Banish U.S. Student Who Joined Fighting for Summer Vacation

The usual vacation spots apparently didn’t get 21-year-old UCLA student Chris Jeon’s adrenaline pumping. So a few months ago he decided to hop on a flight and join the Libyan rebels in their ground campaign against Gadhafi.Jeon was quite a sight alongside the motley crue of Libyan rebel fighters covered in kalashnikovs and bandoliers of ammunition. The Christian Science Monitor described Jeon’s battefield dress as:
“A cobalt basketball jersey emblazoned with the words “Los Angeles” and the number 44, camouflage pants, and black and white Converse sneakers. Around his neck hangs a spent ammunition casing on a string, and a black and white scarf is wrapped around his head, courtesy of the rebel fighters.”
Jeon speaks no Arabic and was only able to communicate with the rebels in broken Italian. When asked about his motivations for joining the Libyan rebels, Jeon told the Christian Science Monitor:
“At spring break I told my friends a ‘sick’ vacation would be to come here and fight with the rebels. This is one of the few real revolutions, I just thought I’d come check it out.”
They charged us sales tax on our property tax!

Here's one for you. We have a number of machines that we use to process our granite slabs into finished kitchen counters. One of them is a line edge shaper & polisher which we have another half of a year of payments left on. Anyway, we used to remit our business property tax on all of our equipment and machinery, etc. directly to the county (I'm not sure if others states besides Kollectivistafornia require this, probably not). On our recent billing statement the finance company of our machine had a new line item on their monthly invoice for property tax but here's the kicker, there was also a line item for sales tax right below it (see the attachment). They charged us sales tax on our property tax!
Well the book keeper called Northland Capital thinking that a major mistake had been made here. Their response was that lots of other people had called on the same thing. They had been told by the state of Kalifonia to start collecting the property tax and remiting it to the county (instead of us) and since it was now an invoiceable item they were told that it was taxable and that they were to withhold sales tax on it as well.
And the hits just keep on coming here in the People's Demokratik Republik of Kalifonia. They keep on driving the productive class out of this state. They just don't get that their policies are causing this economic catastrophe and every time they do something stupid like this it drives away even more people and businesses. The result is that revenues drop and then they do something else stupid in response...and on, and on, and on.

Better that Muslims rule America than the Tea Party?
A couple of days ago someone told me that he would rather have Muslims ruling America over the Tea Party. It took a few seconds for the comment to sink in but once it did it made me feel sick. I knew the man was a devout Liberal but Islamic law would be better than the Constitution?
I asked him about what he knew of Sharia Law; specifically how it is acceptable for a man to beat and even kill his wife and children if they do not submit to his rule. I asked about their treatment of homosexuals which is a crime punishable by death. I then asked how he felt about the teachings that ALL non-believers must be either converted or killed. His response again shook me. He said that only a few extremists practiced such things and that Islam was a religion of peace. At this point, my blood was boiling to the point that all I could do was to tell him that he needs to educate himself on how Islam is practiced around the world and pull his head out of the dark place it is residing.
The tea party movement has been painted by the Liberal media and now by several Democrat politicians as an extremist group of racist hate filled people. Somehow standing up for the Constitution, reduced government spending and the ideals that founded America have become extremist views! We have been to hundreds of tea party rallies around the country since the movement began and those in attendance were nothing other than patriotic individuals who love their country and do not want to see America’s greatness lost.
