dutch mp fights for afrikaner rights

AFRIKANER SURVIVAL DEBATE IN HOLLAND AND FLANDERS HOTTING UP

In April, Dutch MP Martin Bosma launched a fiery debate about the poor-survival chances for Afrikaans and the desperate plight of the Afrikaner people in the Dutch national quality daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad. link On 28 September 2011, Bosma said he would plead for the survival of the Afrikaans language and the people who speak it after he was elected chairman of the Dutch Language Union’s interparliamentary committee. link also: Afrikaner children denied survival rightsBreyten Breytenbach documentary about Afrikaner destition also: Dutch Freedom of Speech articles about Afrikaners descent into genocide bullets fly in Krugersdorp

Bosma thus inadvertently launched a debate about the survival-fight of the Afrikaners which is beginning to spread across the Dutch-language regions of Europe with this first salvo in NRC Handelsblad. Bosma on April 20 wrote an article in the country’s top international daily, NRC Handelsblad, praising the brilliant uniqueness of the Afrikaans language’s poetry. He was ‘pleading for its survival and of all the people who speak it,’ he warned. Bosman said ‘Afrikaans is Dutch’; and that ‘the Dutch should be concerned about the way in which Afrikaans was being plowed under by a deliberate anglicisation policy under the ANC-regime”.

He pointed out that there was a growing counter-movement among young Afrikaners and Afrikaans-speaking people of colour – ‘because the majority of Afrikaans-speakers are slightly tinted ‘ – to try and rescue their language and the people who speak it.”

Bosma’s analysis is accurate: The Afrikaners call for their own autonomic land-based rights are growing ever louder as members of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples, UNPO, the Afrikaners also demand their own autonomous Afrikaner State: since they represent 6% of the total population, they feel it’s only fair that they get autonomous control over six percent of the total SA land-surface – and specifically in those regions where they already had their internationally-recognised, own independent Boer republics before the British colonial regime destroyed them in 1902.

“The Dutch Language Union which includes the Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname is also spreading its wings over the protection of Afrikaans, writes Bosma. “Our languages are deeply embedded with one another – in the words of poetess Elisabeth Eybers who lived most of her life in Amsterdam: ‘Nogtans sal jij aan mij gebonden bly / Met die onsigb’re naelstreng wat nie breek.’ Bosma says he keeps the Afrikaans book Winternag at his side in parliament.

New England’s 1814 Hartford Convention Considers Secession

The United States Constitution defines treason as: “levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort…” (Article III, Section 3). Note that treason is not defined as against the “United States,” an abstract construct, but “levying War against them,” the sovereign States.

“Going back to 1796 we find the Hartford Courant assailing the South....that the union would be an impossibility for any long period in the future. “We have reached a critical period in our political existence…The Northern States can subsist as a nation, a republic, without any connection with the Southern.”

Several of her [New England’s] more reckless ministers of the gospel preached secession from the pulpit. The Sentinel, the Repertory, and the Boston Gazette advocated it, and declared the union already practically dissolved. Regarding herself as entirely separated from the Democratic administration and its war [of 1812], New England established a regular system of trade with the public enemy.

The British army and navy were supplied with cattle and provisions driven over the line from Canada. Everything possible was done to defeat the war loan of the government. The British ministry, thinking a great opportunity might have arrived, sent a Canadian lawyer, John Henry, to New England to report how near the country was ripe for revolt and union with Canada.

An English fleet blockaded the whole of our coast except New England. The Democratic Congress passed the Embargo Act of 1813 because they believed that New England, unblockaded, was trading with Great Britain and supplying with provisions the fleets and armies that were invading America.

[The] Massachusetts legislature, by an overwhelmingly large vote, called a convention of all New England. A picked body of the most respectable and conservative Federalists, twelve from Massachusetts, seven from Connecticut, four from Rhode Island, two from New Hampshire, and one from Vermont, met in what has ever since been known as the Hartford Convention of 1814, which sat with doors closed and discussed the troubles of the time.

[The Convention saw] the Democratic administration [as] dividing up the country into districts for calling out the militia, and leaving the calling of them within the discretion of the President, [which] was a violation of the Constitution, by which the militia could be converted by the President into a standing army to destroy the liberties of the States.

They go on to say: “That acts of Congress in violation of the Constitution are absolutely void, is an undeniable position. [In] cases of deliberate, dangerous and palpable infractions of the Constitution, affecting the sovereignty of a State and liberties of the people, it is not only the right, but the duty of such a State to interpose its authority for their protection, in the manner best calculated to secure that end. (Dwight, History of the Hartford Convention, p. 361.)

“Many”? Err, How “Many” is “Many” Anyway?

It’s funny. Last week I returned from a trip to Petersburg Virginia
where I visited with some old friends and my adopted Southron family. On
the 17th, we all participated in a city-sponsored celebration honoring a
local black Confederate, one Richard “Dick” Poplar. There were black
participants at the ceremony as well as white ones. No one threw stones,
no one complained; no one said they were offended. Even the (black)
mayor showed up to say a few words. We all had a great time, and I for
one was glad to see folks that I had not seen since I attended the last
one in ’07. Yet, I keep reading that “many” African Americans are
“offended.” Funny how the screed generated by the Will Huhn’s of the
world fail to jibe with reality. In any case, I believe, as others in
this forum have stated before, that the Will Huhn’s of the world need
to be called to task on this. How “many” is “many” anyway? What’s
more, even if there are at least some who are offended, (which there
are), where is it written that we are mandated to assuage their
thin-skinned sensibilities?

Lexington, Virginia, Chooses Not to Fly the Confederate Flag

Another pompous academic tells us how it is. Well Mr. Huhn, could you
please elaborate a bit on your statement that "many" African American
residents of Lexington "complained" about the flag; specifically, HOW
"MANY" IS "MANY"? I hear the word "many" more times than I can count in
articles like this one but no one seems to want to quote a figure or a
percentage. Perhaps you could enlighten us on this matter Mr.
Professore, instead of expecting us to simply nod our heads in mindless
approval?

Next, assuming that a percentage of black folks do find the flag to be
offensive, where is it written that those folks who do not find it
offensive must bow to their wishes? Are not those who would like to see
the flag of their ancestors on public display in the city also tax
paying citizens? Do they not have the same rights as those that disagree
with them? Again Mr. Professore, please point out where it is written
that those from the second group must bow to the wishes of the first
group.

Finally, as regards your point about the flag being "seized" by the kkk
and by segregationists…. my answer would be "SO WHAT"? The kkk and
similar groups don't just use the Confederate battleflag, they use the
stars and stripes. I don't hear you p***ing and moaning about that.

And as far as segregationists go, allow me to give you a history lesson
on the flag. It was a flag carried into battle by one of the most
defiant combatants ever to grace the pages of military history, the
Confederate soldier. He defied a military power which outnumbered him
4-1 in manpower and 10-1 in industrial capacity. He fought a courageous
fight for 4 long years and if you doubt his tenacity, then I suggest you
check the diaries and letters of yankee soldiers and officers.
"Defiance" was the key word in his struggle. And as such, the flag that
he carried has been adopted by many groups and individuals over the last
150 years who have been looking to express their own defiance for
whatever the reason. Segregationists used it to defy federal laws they
saw as unconstitutional. Outlaw bikers have used it to express defiance
to the rules and mores of the larger society. It has been used by
Sudanese rebels in Southern Sudan and it was waved at the Berlin Wall
and in the streets of Eastern European cities when the peoples in that
region overthrew their Communist dictators.

It was and it still is, a symbol of defiance. And as long as there are
self-righteous, self-serving, know-it-all doctrinaires like yourself
running around, it will most likely continue to be used in this way.

English Defence League filling vacuum left by mainstream politics

Via Global Guerrillas

Mainstream political parties must tackle far-right groups through doorstep "hearts and minds" campaigns that tackle anti-Muslim sentiments at local level, according to two reports on challenging extremists.

The rise of career politicians, and the fall of grassroots activists, has left a vacuum across Europe for populist anti-establishment groups, warns the paper Right Response, published by the international affairs thinktank Chatham House. These groups now tapped into voters' feeling of being "disenfranchised" by out-of-touch politicians.

Muslims are increasingly the focus of anti-immigration and anti-minority group activity, says the report, and it means growing public hostility to settled Muslim communities.

The second report, EDL: Britain's New Far-Right Social Movement, published by Northampton University's radicalism and new media research group, charts the rise of the English Defence League.

Another words, screw you Collectivists.
=====================================

With a heavy fog hanging in the air, about 300 Oak Mountain Middle School students huddled on the football field to pray this morning before school.

An estimated 30,000 Christian students gathered before school at more than 200 public schools across central Alabama in observance of "See You at the Pole" day, a national prayer rally, said Greg Davis, president of First Priority of Alabama.

"It's a time for students to come together and have prayer at school in a perfectly legal manner," Davis said.

200 Tons of Silver Found on WWII Ship

Via Ann, Belle Grove

It was a stormy Second World War night when, on February 17, 1941, three lifeboats abandoned the SS Gairsoppa, a 412 foot-long British cargo ship en route from India to Liverpool, England.

In service of the Ministry of War Transport, the Gairsoppa was laden with tea, iron and tons of silver. Because of bad weather and insufficient coal, she was forced to break away from the military convoy off the coast of Ireland.

As the captain re-routed in emergency for Galway, on the west coast of Ireland, the merchant steamship and its crew of 86 men were hit by a torpedo from a Nazi U-boat. She sank in icy seas within 20 minutes.

Left at the mercy of the winds and waves, two lifeboats soon disappeared. A third boat managed to sail for 13 days, with only one person, second officer Richard Ayres, surviving the long journey to shore.

Now, 70 years after the dramatic sinking, treasure hunters have announced the discovery of the Gairsoppa's intact wreck about 300 miles off the coast of Ireland, at a depth of nearly three miles.

Laying deeper than the Titanic, the wreck is believed to hold the largest haul of precious metal lost at sea.

According to U.S. underwater archaeology and salvage company Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc, up to 240 tons of silver, valued at more than $200 million, could be retrieved by next spring.

Unbelievable: NYPD officers disciplined for throwing football with boy

Police One
VERBATIM POST
===================

Officers Catherine Guzman and Mariana Diaz face departmental trial for tossing a football with a child

By PoliceOne Staff

NEW YORK — Two NYPD officers are challenging the disciplinary action taken against them for throwing a football with a child at a Bronx housing project.

Officers Catherine Guzman and Mariana Diaz say they were humiliated by the commanding officer of the Bronx Housing Bureau for playing the game last year on the Fourth of July, according to the New York Daily News.

"He was irate and berated us in front of everyone," Guzman said. "He said, 'What are you doing? Do you realize you are on overtime?'"

Four officers were involved in the incident, and two accepted a penalty of two vacation days, but Guzman and Diaz are appealing the ruling.

Charges against them say they "did fail and neglect to remain alert, to wit: throwing and catching a football with three uniformed members of service...while maintaining a foot post." Both will receive harsher penalties if found guilty.

Lawyer Eric Sanders said the NYPD needs to rethink how it defines community policing.

"I think the Police Department prefers its officers to be an occupying force rather than interacting with the community it serves," Sanders said.

"I don't think throwing a football to a 7-year-old boy is misconduct," Guzman said. "We were interacting with the community."

Plan To Return America To the Gold Standard Set To Be Offered at Washington

Via Survival

"The fearful danger of the present time is that above the cry for authority, we forget that man stands alone before the ultimate authority, and that anyone who lays violent hands on man here, is infringing eternal laws, and taking upon himself superhuman authority, which will eventually crush him."
-- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

==========================
The next big step in the gold standard debate is going to be taken next month at Washington, when one of the original members of the Reagan-era United States Gold Commission offers a five-step plan to return America to sound money.

The architect of the plan, Lewis Lehrman, a businessman and scholar, will present his program in an address October 5 at a conference in Washington on the how to return to a stable dollar. He will outline a five-step program to return America to a gold-backed currency within five years.

What is significant about the event is its aim of shifting the discussion to practical steps that could be taken to rescue the American monetary system. It comes as the value of the United States dollar has collapsed to record lows, sinking at one point this month to less than an 1,800th of an ounce of gold. The value of the dollar has recovered marginally in recent days, but still lurks below a 1,600th of an ounce of gold, a level that would have been nearly unimaginable — at least in policy terms — as recently as the start of President George W. Bush’s first term, when the dollar had a value of a 265th of an ounce of gold.

“The stand-pat defenders of today’s paper-dollar system turn back every argument in favor of the gold standard by claiming that there’s no practical way to re-establish it,” says the editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, James Grant. “What Lehrman has done is to devise a practical and persuasive plan to do just that.” He predicts “the ball is now — or soon will be — in the paper-money court as it has not been for a long time.”

In recent months, a growing chorus of serious observers have started to speak in favor of the restoration of a link between the dollar and gold. Some of them have been establishment figures, such as the president of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, who in November last year startled the debate by issuing in the London Financial Times an op-ed piece suggesting there might be a role for gold in a reformed monetary system.

Since then a number of the nation’s most respected journalists — led most notably by Mr. Grant — have come out publicly for a return to the gold standard. Mr. Grant’s demarche came on the op-ed page of the New York Times. Several Republican candidates for president, ranging from Congressman Ron Paul to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Governor Perry, among others, have signaled that they view that the restoration of a sound dollar as being a component of returning America to the path of economic growth and full employment.

Mr. Lehrman, however, is the first of the leading figures in the debate to step forward with a plan, which he is expected to lay out in the Washington conference on a stable dollar. The conference is being hosted by the Heritage Foundation think tank. Mr. Lehrman’s plan is elaborated on at length in a book his institute will publish next month called, “The True Gold Standard: A Monetary Reform Plan Without Official Reserve Currencies.”

Although Mr. Lehrman was once a member of the United States Gold Commission, the plan he will announce next month has no official status. But when Mr. Lehrman was with the Commission, he co-authored with Dr. Paul a famous dissent, which made the case for gold and has been widely consulted in the decades since the Commission majority made its recommendation to continue with a system of fiat money, which in turn, advocates of stable money argue, culminated in America’s current travail.
