The Revolt of the Kulaks Has Begun

The beginning of a protest movement against Barack Obama’s redistributive policies is underway. Though still small, every movement starts somewhere. While called the “Tea Party” after the Boston Tea Party, this movement is similar to movements throughout history where the producers of society refuse to have their property and income confiscated.

This movement can succeed if it does not stop at protest and includes changes in economic behavior. Obama’s redistributive plans require higher taxation, but higher tax plans (to be announced this week by Obama) are based on the fallacy that the “rich” will not change their economic behavior in reaction to higher tax rates.

History tells us, however, that economic redistribution plans fail because the producers of society would rather not produce, than have the fruits of their production taken away and given to others. Obama can raise the tax rates on income, but he cannot force people to generate income to be taxed. People may just say “no.” This resistance will not come from evading taxes, but from evading taxable income. In the end, as must all economic re-distributors, Obama either will have to resort to repressive measures, or he will have to abandon his redistributive plans.

The best example of this phenomenon is the forced collectivization of farms in the Soviet Union. At the time of the Revolution, Russia was a largely agrarian society which allowed more productive farmers (so-called “kulaks”) to prosper. Since the kulaks represented a political threat to communism, the collectivization of farming was a focus of communist policy. From the start, the kulaks resisted, requiring Lenin to resort to repression:

• They have undermined the relationship with some of America’s closest allies.
• 
  
• They have bloated the size of the federal government to a point where it can no longer sustain itself.

Why should your son or daughter attend the Sam Davis Youth Camp?

In a survey conducted by the Center for Survey Research and Analysis in 2000, 65% of college seniors failed to pass a high school equivalent American history test:

• Only 23% correctly identified James Madison as the "Father of the Constitution." Yet, 98% knew that "Snoop Doggy Dog" is a rapper.
• Just over half, 52% knew that George Washington's Farewell Address warned against establishing permanent alliances with foreign governments. Yet, 99% correctly identified Beavis & Butthead.

What to do?

Today, General Cleburne's words, quoted above, ring all too true. There is no question that the youth of today must run a terrible gauntlet, and that many are struck down along the way by one or more of the politically correct influences which flourish in our schools. Sometimes these youths are from the best homes, with strong families and religious training. With even the most conscientious parenting though, oftentimes in high school or college, even these best & brightest finally succumb to the liberal, politically correct view of history.

This summer, you can help turn the tide. For one week, our Southern young men and ladies (ages 12-20) will gather to hear the truths about the War for Southern Independence. This camp (named for the great young Confederate Sam Davis) will combine fun and recreation with thoughtful instruction in Southern history, the War Between the States, the theology of the South during the War, lessons on Southern heroes, examples of great men of the Faith, and for the first year, special programs and sessions for our Southern ladies!

This is the seventh year the Sons of Confederate Veterans has offered such a wonderful event for our sons and grandsons, and the second year we offer the program for our daughters and granddaughters. We urge you to take advantage of this great opportunity. It is our responsibility to teach our Southern history and culture to the future generations.

"When We Served The Empire Were We Saps?" ........When my good friend, Bill Lemon, went back finally a few years ago, (He had more time in-country than I, but about equal now after the war though we had a friend, Frank Toner, who had gone there as an adviser to the French in 1952 and had managed to keep a job up until the very end, '52 to '75!) he wrote me that if he had been put in a time capsule at the beginning of April 1975, and then just opened when he went back, he would have sworn that the South had won! Listen, pathetic leaders.

The Nation II: US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that Israel was going to attack Iran later this spring. Somebody that still has some sense in DC…if such a person exists…had better tell the SecDef that Iran has some friends who won’t take too kindly to air strikes in Iran or boots on the ground. That would be Russia, India and China. Surely, Washington doesn’t think they and Israel can get away with this. World War III, here we come. My guess is that in the diplomatic back-channels, China will quietly explain to Mr. Obama that if DC or Tel Aviv go ahead with military attacks, China will dump a few hundred Billion in US Treasuries into the bond market and crash the market. That move would effectively destroy the Dollar and America would be over, as well as Israel. That’s The Art of War…the Sun Tzu way.

All of this places a heavy burden on people who care about our nation. We must ensure that the 2012 elections are the most open and honest elections in U.S. history. Should Obama lose, I wouldn't put it past leftists, progressives, the news media and their race-hustling allies, as well as the president, to fan the fires of hate and dissension by charging that racists somehow stole the election, thereby giving support and excuses for the kind of violence and lawlessness that we've witnessed in flash mobs and Occupy Wall Street riots.

There's been a heap of criticism placed upon President Barack Obama's domestic policies that have promoted government intrusion and prolonged our fiscal crisis and his foreign policies that have emboldened our enemies. Any criticism of Obama pales in comparison with what might be said about the American people who voted him in to the nation's highest office.

Obama's presidency represents the first time in our history that a person could have been elected to that office who had long-standing close associations with people who hate our nation.
