Festa dos Confederados: Brazil celebrates 150th anniversary of Civil War's end

Via Billy

It had all the trappings of a down-home country fair somewhere well below the Mason-Dixon line: Lynyrd Skynyrd medleys, mile-long lines for fried chicken, barbeque and draft beer, and a plethora of Confederate flags emblazoning everything from belt buckles to motorcycle vests to trucker caps.

But Sunday's party marking the 150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil War took place about 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) south of the South, in a rural Brazilian town colonized by families fleeing Reconstruction.

Rising Police Aggression A Telling Indicator Of Our Societal Decline

Via Skynet

My first Uber lift was in South Carolina.  My driver was from Sudan originally, but had emigrated to the US 20 years ago.  Being the curious sort, I asked him about his life in Sudan and why he moved.  He said that he left when his country had crumbled too far, past the point where a reasonable person could have a reasonable expectation of personal safety, when all institutions had become corrupted making business increasingly difficult.

 So he left.

Detecting a hitch in his delivery when he spoke of coming to the US, I asked him how he felt about the US now, 20 years later.  "To be honest," he said, "the same things I saw in Sudan that led me to leave are happening here now. That saddens me greatly, because where else is there to go?"

It’s time to face some uncomfortable ideas about the state of civilization in the United States. This country is no longer the beacon of freedom illuminating a better way for the world. Why not? Because it has ceased to be civilized.

Exposed: Obama’s Massive New Program To Stack The Deck Against The GOP In 2016 And Beyond

Via Joe

“The deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top, and there is something wrong with that,” said Hillary Clinton in her YouTube video that helped to launch her latest bid for the presidency. Now, given what the current president is doing in an apparent effort to stack the deck against Republicans in 2016 and beyond, a former Justice Department official is warning that there’s something very wrong with what Obama and his DHS are trying to pull off.

J. Christian Adams, an ex-DOJ official who has frequently talked of corruption in the federal department run by Eric Holder, is now blowing the whistle on a new program in another huge part of government, at the Department of Homeland Security — a program that’s designed to add as many Democrat supporters as possible to the voter rolls in time for the 2016 elections. Adams claims that sources inside Obama’s DHS have leaked information to him about the department’s so-called “Task Force on New Americans.”

This massive effort, says Adams, is all about urging some 9,000,000 green card holders, non-citizen aliens, to naturalize and thus gain voting rights.

This is the $998 wood cookstove from woodandheat.com.

This is one of the few articles in this series where I haven’t yet reviewed the product, but I plan to follow it up with a review in the future because I bought one. My intention in posting this today is to give the regular readers of this column a official heads up on a heavily discounted and apparently high quality product that may be a priority for you in your prepping supplies.

Why Doesn’t the Government Trust Soldiers to Carry Guns on Military Bases, Installations?

 https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/warguns.jpg

Probably one of the dumbest and most ironic laws on the books is the ban on concealed carry at military bases and installations. The reason it’s so stupid is quite obvious.

Firearms are the essential tools soldier use to protect us from terrorists, despots, and foreign armies. And the U.S. Military goes to great lengths to ensure that every solider is proficient with a firearm. Yet, for whatever reason, the government doesn’t trust soldiers with guns when they’re not training, at a military gun range or in a combat zone.

It’s not only illogical to make military facilities gun-free zones, it’s just downright bizarre.
Thankfully, someone is attempting to do something about it — at least ostensibly (I say “ostensibly” because the man is running for president and it’s hard not to see this as a way to pander to 2A supporters. Then again, Cruz is been pretty consistent with his support of gun ownership).

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) sent a letter to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Tuesday requesting that McCain, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, consider bringing up the matter for review and discussion.

“The men and women in our military have been at war for over a decade; they understand the responsibilities that go along with carrying a firearm,” Mr. Cruz wrote in the letter.

“Yet their Second Amendment rights are removed at the front gate.”

Founder and Historian David Ramsay Defines a Natural Born Citizen in 1789

Via Skynet

An essay written 2 Apr 2010 by Attorney Mario Apuzzo, counsel for the lawsuit of Kerchner v Obama & Congress. Founder and Historian David Ramsay Defined Natural Born Citizenship in 1789.

In defining an Article II “natural born Citizen,” it is important to find any authority from the Founding period who may inform us how the Founders and Framers themselves defined the clause. Who else but a highly respected historian from the Founding period itself would be highly persuasive in telling us how the Founders and Framers defined a “natural born Citizen. ” Such an important person is David Ramsay, who in 1789 wrote, A Dissertation on the Manners of Acquiring the Character and Privileges of a Citizen (1789), a very important and influential essay on defining a “natural born Citizen.”

David Ramsay (April 2, 1749 to May 8, 1815) was an American physician, patriot, and historian from South Carolina and a delegate from that state to the Continental Congress in 1782-1783 and 1785-1786. He was the Acting President of the United States in Congress Assembled. He was one of the American Revolution’s first major historians. A contemporary of Washington, Ramsay writes with the knowledge and insights one acquires only by being personally involved in the events of the Founding period.

Two Things You Don’t Know About Roe v. Wade that Will Surprise You

James Robenalt is a trial lawyer and author of "The Harding Affair, Love and Espionage During the Great War" (Palgrave/Macmillan, 2009). Robenalt lectures nationally with John W. January 22, 1973 is the date that most associate with Roe v. Wade. That is the day when Justice Harry Blackmun read a summary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe and that of its companion case, Doe v. Bolton. Every year there are demonstrations in Washington on January 22 to commemorate or protest the Supreme Court’s decision recognizing a woman’s right to an abortion.

(Looks like an old article from 2012) U.S. To Import 87,310 M1 Garand Rifles from Korea, but won't allow 770,000 M1 Carbines

Via Mike

P1000612

The supplies of M1 Garand rifles are slowly but surely dwindling from the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s shelves. That’s the government-run organization that distributes WWII era firearms to the population, promoting civilian marksmanship through its games as well as its cheap firearms. A stockpile of South Korean M1 Garand rifles have been sitting awaiting approval for U.S. importation. The State Department has finally gotten off its rear end and green-lighted their re-entry into The Land of the Free. The rifles had been in political limbo for decades.

Uncle Sam sold most of the M1s to the Korean government to help with the Korean War.
Our own G.I.s left some of them behind when we pulled out. Obviously, the M1 Garands are woefully obsolete on the modern battlefield. Korea had been looking to unload these rifles on the U.S. market to pay for a much needed upgrade to their armed forces’ armories.

Malik Obama says Barack is cold and ruthless

Via Joe

In an interview conducted earlier this month, film maker Joel Gilbert, who produced the film “Dreams from My Real Father,” (which suggested that Obama’s Communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, may be his real father) talks to President Obama’s brother Malik, who has some very strong views about his half-brother – including his own doubts as to Obama’s parentage.
Malik says, he feels “Disappointed, disappointed, used, used and also betrayed. In the beginning, I didn’t think that he was a schemer. His real character, his real personality, the real him, is coming out now.”
