Several polls have been released this week as the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary nears.

The Zogby poll released Monday shows leading Republican presidential Donald Trump tied with leading Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at 45% –but beating Clinton in key demographics traditionally won by Democrats.

Pollster John Zogby wrote about the poll in Forbes:

“Trump is ahead among Catholics – a group that Democrats have won every election since 1992.

He also draws an impressive 66% support among evangelicals (to Clinton’s 25%). He also leads among NASCAR Fans (48%-42%), Investor Class voters (49%-44%) and Weekly Wal-Mart Shoppers (50%-42%) – a group President Barack Obama won twice. Trump even is drawing 37% of union households (to Clinton’s 56%).”

New ISIS propaganda reveals the psychological torture and death of four Iraqi Shia prisoners accused of fighting the terrorist group.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – The video begins with the four prisoners dressed in orange jumpsuits introducing themselves to the camera and describing their roles in fighting ISIS.

After their introductions, the men are forced to watch videos of Shia’s paramilitary forces burning ISIS corpses. One video the prisoners saw featured Abu Azrael, a well-known poster boy of the Imam Ali Brigade, an Iranian-backed unit fighting with the Iraqi army against ISIS.

The Rejection Election And The Crisis Of The Regime

Via WRSA

With the Iowa caucuses a week away, the front-runner for the Republican nomination, who leads in all the polls, is Donald Trump.

The consensus candidate of the Democratic Party elite, Hillary Clinton, has been thrown onto the defensive by a Socialist from Vermont who seems to want to burn down Wall Street.

Not so long ago, Clinton was pulling down $225,000 a speech from Goldman Sachs. Today, she sounds like William Jennings Bryan.

Taken together, the candidacies of Trump, Sanders, Ben Carson and Ted Cruz represent a rejection of the establishment. And, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, other Republican campaigns are now channeling Trump’s.

The Cause of Jackson and Lee

lee jackson

Delivered at the Blount County Courthouse, January 19, 2015.

Robert E. Lee said “Everyone should do all in his power to collect and disseminate the truth, in the hope that it may find a place in history and descend to posterity. History is not the relation of campaigns and battles and generals or other individuals, but that which shows the principles for which the South contended and which justified her struggle for those principles. ”

In honoring him today, I wish to adhere to his will in this regard and speak to you on the cause that he and those who followed him into battle offered their lives for.

I have suggested for some time that to understand the travesty of Lincoln’s war of 1861 through 1865, one must first have some basic understanding of the outcome of the Philadelphia Convention in 1787, which proposed a constitution for the United States, and ratification of that constitution in 1788.

Additionally, to understand the current political situation that we find ourselves in today, one must likewise have some basic understanding of Lincoln’s war and the damage to the original union that it inflicted. There is an idea among some that because the events that Lee participated in occurred over 150 years ago they are “irrelevant” to us today. This is an example of extreme short-sightedness on the part of the American populace.

The House Divided

On the 25th anniversary of Arthur Schlesinger’s The Disuniting of America, the liberal historian’s worst fears are coming to pass.

Twenty-five years ago, Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.—premier historian of twentieth-century American liberalism, highbrow courtier to the Kennedys, and grey eminence for the Kennedy’s would-be successors—published The Disuniting of America: Reflections on a Multicultural Society. The Schlesinger of the 1950s idolized Adlai Stevenson, whose professorial demeanor endeared him to academia. Academic expertise was, as Schlesinger understood it, the key to the American future. But in the wake of the Black Power movement, feminism, and anti-Enlightenment postmodernism, the quota-driven academia of the late 1980s lost its rationalist moorings. Both lament and warning, The Disuniting of America reflected a Schlesinger disconcerted by the rise, within overwhelmingly liberal academia, of multiculturalism and political correctness, the linked solvents of American identity.

It could have turned out different in Vietnam

Via David

Yesterday in 1973, President Nixon announced a ceasefire in Vietnam.  It came about after the famous Christmas bombing of 1972, when President Nixon reminded North Vietnam that he had a lot of B-52s and was willing to use them.  In simple terms, the bombing was so intense that the North came back begging Secretary Kissinger for the paper to sign!

Two months later, the POWs came home, including John McCain.

Twenty-seven months later, the North walked into Saigon, and we've known it as Ho Chi Minh City ever since.

Did it have to turn out that way?

President Nixon did not think so.  He wrote about it in No More Vietnams, a book that gets better with age.  The point is that we choose to win wars or lose them, the latter of which we did in Vietnam.  To win would not have required a single soldier – just a few B-52s to remind the North that we meant to enforce the ceasefire.  We should remember that North Vietnam was devastated in 1973.

Christian girl killed for shrugging off advances of wealthy Muslim boys animals

Kiran (17 years), Shamroza (18 years) and Sumble (20 years) three Christian girls were simply walking home through Defence Colony after a hard day's work as beauticians, on their way to their deprived Christian community in Baowala.

They had set off at 9pm on 13th January, with intention to get home quickly before it got too unsafe so they could get some rest before returning to work the following morning. On this fateful night however they were accosted by four allegedly drunk Muslim in a maroon car, who started to misbehave with them. The intoxicated men shouted suggestive and lewd comments at them and were harassing them to get into the car with them for 'a ride and some fun'.

The three girls explained that they were devout Christians and did not practice sex outside of marriage and bravely scolded the young men for their untoward advances. This caused an immediate change in the demeanour of the boys who became more aggressive and started to threaten the girls to enter the car or to be physically forced in.

Texas Economy Collapses – Dallas Fed Survey Crashes To 6-Year Lows As “D” Word Is Uttered

Via Michael via NCR

For the 13th month in a row, The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Outlook was contractionary with a stunning -34.6 print following December's already disastrous collapse back to -20.1, post-crisis lows. With "hope" having plunged back into negative territory (-2.2) in December, January saw a complete collapse to -24.0 as one respondent exclaimed, "we expect the continued depression in the oil and gas industry to negatively impact our customer base and result in significant demand reduction."
