House Democrats tried but failed Friday to block spending on President Trump's proposed border wall under the annual defense bill.

Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, D-N.M., pressed for a House floor vote that would have added a prohibition on any Pentagon spending to build the wall. She did so at the end of debate on the National Defense Authorization Act, and her move was a protest against the House GOP decision to strip language out of that bill that would have prevented the NDAA from authorizing work on the border wall.

"The only way this body can guarantee that Trump cannot use Department of Defense funds to construct the border wall is to put that prohibition in the bill explicitly," Grisham said on the floor.

But Republicans thwarted the move, and Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, received a standing ovation for his opposition speech that said the House needs to quickly approve the fiscal 2018 defense authorization bill. The NDAA was passed by the chamber moments later, in a vote that saw most Democrats support it.

Progressives: Dems at risk of perennial election defeat

Democrats risk losing election after election if they focus too much on winning back white blue-collar voters from President Trump, according to progressives worried that young minorities are abandoning the party.

“We are not going to get back to national majorities again without these voters,” said Cornell Belcher, the top pollster who worked on both for former President Barack Obama’s campaigns.

Belcher recently conducted focus groups in Florida and Wisconsin for the Civic Engagement Fund that point to the problems Democrats have with millennials of color. The group, founded by progressive leader Andrea Hailey, analyzes data from past elections to increase voter engagement.
Millennial voters of color interviewed in the focus groups felt “undervalued, ignored, and taken for granted,” according to the research obtained by The Hill. This is a huge problem, Belcher and others argue, since millennials of color are a growing part of the electorate.

Research conducted by the Brookings Institution shows that millennials will be the largest voting bloc in the U.S. by 2020. As of 2015, 44.2 percent of millennials are people of color.

Gee, that should turn out well...........

Top Clinton ally Paul Begala said the US should consider bombing Russia in retaliation to Hillary Clinton’s loss.

Clinton aide Paul Begala went on CNN yesterday and called on the Trump administration to start bombing the KGB offices.
Paul Begala: We should be debating how many sanctions we should place on Russia, or whether we should blow up the KGB or GRU. We should be retaliating massively.

Conway: Goalposts have been moved on Russian collusion

President Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway accused opponents of the White House of moving the goalposts on allegations of collusion between President Trump's campaign team and Moscow.

In a Friday morning appearance on "Fox & Friends," she said former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is "one of the only people" who believes in collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"The goalposts have been moved," Conway added, describing the controversy as nothing more than a conspiracy theory in remarks first noted by Politico.

Spare me your Donald Jr. indignation

CNN wanted so badly to damage President Trump that they moved on a story that they couldn’t source, resulting in the firing of three employees.

Politics is war. The objective is to win and take down the opponent. In an industry that does not operate in the black and white, it is often the grey territory in which campaigns work to achieve their goal.

In the middle of this fast-paced environment, the reality is that most people would have taken the meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian attorney whose meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and other senior Trump campaign staff has set Washington on edge.

The worst is that many of the people expressing righteous indignation have no reason to be self-righteous. Robby Mook, the former campaign manager for Hillary Clinton, is the worst offender.

Soaking up the opportunity to get television time, Mook has been everywhere criticizing the Trump team. But he worked for a woman who might be president today, but for her complete lack of a moral compass.

Amid WH Efforts to Dismiss Russia Media Hysteria, Kushner Adds 100+ Names To FBI Contact List

Via Billy

Reports are emerging that Senior Trump Advisor, Jared Kushner, has added more than 100 names to his list of contacts made throughout the campaign and transition on his FBI clearance form. This news comes in the wake of the media firestorm surrounding Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, which has dominated this week’s news cycle. This move adds fuel to the media concocted fire that the Trump administration ha been withholding information about Russian contacts.

Since the April New York Times report that Kushner failed to disclose his meeting with Russian banker and Putin confidant, Sergey Gorkov, Kushner has updated his list of contacts submitted to the FBI three times, adding over 100 names, according to a new Business Insider report.

The Daily Mail reported earlier that Kushner kept a low profile at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley, which he and Ivanka attended today.

“[Ivanka] spent the better part of the break between sessions with her husband, however, who seemed to be avoiding the press and photographers by hiding behind a statue on the campus. Ivanka could be seen walking over to Jared while he looked to be having a stern conversation,” Daily Mail reported.
This news comes as questions swirl as to how the Times obtained knowledge of Junior’s meeting with Veselnitskaya, and more disturbingly, how the Times received advanced copies of his emails.
