Federal judge overturns ObamaCare transgender protections

A federal judge on Tuesday overturned ObamaCare protections for transgender patients, ruling that a 2016 policy violates the religious freedom of Christian providers.

Judge Reed O’Connor in the Northern District of Texas vacated an Obama-era regulation that prohibited insurers and providers who receive federal money from denying treatment or coverage to anyone based on sex, gender identity or termination of pregnancy.

It also required doctors and hospitals to provide “medically necessary” services to transgender individuals as long as those services were the same ones provided to other patients.

As Democrats in the House continue their impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump, the president’s re-election campaign is saying that the rhetoric of impeachment is only helping Trump’s chances in 2020.

“With this second witch hunt, this ridiculous talk of impeachment … I think it’s getting more people off the sidelines. It’s not something people outside D.C. want,” an anonymous senior campaign official said Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner.

Peak absurdity?

Quite frankly, the only surprise here is that they haven’t completely lost it. Although, seriously: Who loses an election and then spins up fanciful fairy tales that somehow Trump colluded with Russia to win? Or that Kavanaugh ran a rape gang?

Yet now here we are with Democrats conducting an impeachment inquiry without making it a formal one, holding closed door hearings to collect information to conduct the fake impeachment while trotting out a second “whistleblower,” who in all likelihood will turn out to be no different from the first: that is to say, not a whistleblower but a partisan covert operative working in concert with others to conduct a soft coup.

If you think that we’ve reached a point of peak absurdity, wait until they roll out Whistleblower 23 who will breathlessly whisper that he or she has fourth hand knowledge that Trump has been caught colluding with the American people to lower unemployment rate to below 3.5 percent and stop illegal immigration and break apart the administrative state.

A while back we ran a story here on AP about the Indian Army working a deal with the Russians to domestically produce the AK-203, an AKM with a handful of upgrades in order to replace the 5.56 INSAS rifle, which is commonly viewed as a failure in combat. Its not really a shock, considering the reputation of the INSAS as unreliable as well as being heavy for what it is. The AK on the other hand, even in its most basic form, is fairly lightweight and I doubt anyone who’s been on the receiving end of one doubts its capabilities in combat.

But with that said, the AK is considered by many to be a dated platform. I don’t share that point of view, but its a data point nonetheless. As reliable as it is, the venerable Kalash was designed for the parameters of the era- and when implementing modern add-ons such as lights and IR lasers, most rail interfaces come up being compromises at best when compared to other purpose built designs that have come along since. So why in the world would an Army adopt it, in a retro intermediate caliber such as 7.62×39?
