The Land of Lawless Lawyers

The impeachment hearings are good for humor if for nothing else. They bring out the so-called experts who demonstrate that they are anything but experts.

Law professor Pamela Karlan, Standford law professor, and Shelia Jackson Lee exchanged expertise on the Constitution and the Founders’ concerns prior to writing it. These two experts immediately opened their mouths and demonstrated that sometimes it is better to keep one’s mouth closed and let people think you are stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Shelia led off with a reference to “kings”:

“Kings, that (sic) the framers were afraid of, and the president’s conduct today.”

Dear Sheriff Baker and Wake County Commissioners :

I am writing to express my outrage over the fact that the public is to be denied the use of Wake County’s public shooting range. Sheriff Baker’s rash decision is unacceptable, and I’m terribly disappointed to see that the county commissioners are not pushing back in any effective way. It is also suspect that the Sheriff decided to take this action during the height of the Christmas season, when most citizens are distracted with holiday activities.

The citizenry must be allowed access their own facility, which was originally chartered for public use. I’m demanding that this be rectified as soon as possible, and that a full explanation of how this happened in the first place be provided.

I will be monitoring your actions on this important matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,

Greg Ford

to me
Good evening,

Friday afternoon, Wake County Manager David Ellis notified Sheriff Gerald Baker that the County will revert control of operations of the Wake County firing range and training center back to the County. In the memo, Manager Ellis assured Sheriff Baker that County staff will work closely with the Sheriff’s Office to ensure a smooth transition for the County-owned building. Officers will continue to have access to the training facility in the interim for skills development.

Since the Sheriff dismissed the vendor with the contract to operate the center for the public, Wake County staff and the Board of Commissioners will review options for reinstating public access as soon as possible. The Board will review these option at an upcoming meeting early in the new year, once details are available.

The firearms facility and training center was built with taxpayer dollars by Wake County Government for its use by law-abiding gun owners and law enforcement professionals. It is a community asset and Wake County commissioners and staff will work to ensure that the facility is again made available for the community’s use as soon as possible.

“Wake County to take control of shooting range from Sheriff’s Office”

Wake County Board of Commissioners

Mayor of Border City Ends Emergency Declaration, Thanks Trump for Stemming Flow of Illegal Immigrants

A border patrol vehicle drags the sand to make any new footprints of border crossers more visible along a recently constructed section of the controversial U.S.-Mexico border fence expansion on previously pristine desert sands on March 14, 2009, between Yuma, Arizona, and Calexico, California.

The mayor of Yuma, Arizona, withdrew his city’s local state of emergency and explicitly credited the Trump administration for implementing policies that led to the significant reduction in border crossings.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls — in a meeting with acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli on Thursday — officially withdrew his city’s emergency proclamation, declaring that the number of illegal aliens consuming the town’s resources has reached more manageable levels.

Top FISA Court Judge Condemns FBI for Providing ‘False Information’ to Court, Demands Prompt Government Response

FISA Court questions whether ‘information contained in other FBI applications is reliable’

Less than a week after Department of Justice Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz released his investigation detailing FBI misconduct in obtaining a FISA spy warrant on a Trump 2016 presidential campaign aide, the presiding judge of the FISA Court, Rosemary Collyer, issued a Four-Page Response Order on Dec. 17, 2019.

This unprecedented order by the FISA court condemned—and verified—ongoing wrongdoing by the FBI in the entire approach to the FISA process. Judge Collyer’s order also highlighted just how serious these breaches of conduct actually were, and the potential fallout that could result from the FBI’s actions.

Federalizing the police force in Memphis, et al:

"Federalizing the police force is a very bad idea. I discovered one such agreement several years ago, again called the "Violent Crimes Task Force", sponsored by US Marshals Service (USMS).

To begin, the task force was led by a Deputy Marshal of USMS, not the local sheriff. who was the chief law enforcement officer (CLEO) for the county. In that particular region of the country, the local sheriff and the county he served was much more responsible for his county, unlike Tennessee law where the local sheriff is little more than a custodian of the local jail, Buford T. Pusser notwithstanding.

Second, the sheriff had to agree to relinquish his CLEO authority on any and all matters regarding the task force.

Third, his deputies could be sent anywhere in the country and likewise the task force could bring in deputies from anywhere in the country, Federal or otherwise.

On that third point, consider that the knowledge of who is in your local law enforcement is vital to restrain an ever encroaching police state. So let's say your county is a 2nd Amendment sanctuary and your local sheriff and most of his deputies were born and raised in the local community - well, by agreeing to this sort of arrangement, that is effectively nullified and, furthermore, the people that will come in to enforce that Federal diktat will not be those who are locally accountable for their action and they will not be under the control of the local sheriff - he will have already relinquished that authority by written agreement.

The only free cheese is in a mouse trap.

Not as far-fetched as you might think - look at what is being said at the news conference - enforcing Federal gun laws - yup. AG Barr has a long history of being opposed to so-called "assault weapons", as does President Trump. Same thing with so-called "red flag" laws - both AG Barr and POTUS have demonstrated their willingness to enact such legislation at the Federal level - despite it being a gross violation of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments of our US Constitution. Even going back to 1750 B.C. with the Hammurabi Code, one was presumed innocent until proven guilty - not so under "red flag" laws....nor civil asset forfeiture for that matter.

As for precedent, consider that in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, criminal gangs were more or less allowed to roam freely, yet private military contractors (Blackwater, Triple Canopy,  et al) were brought in to go door-to-door and confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens, even a frail elderly woman living alone in one instance. Meanwhile, within the Superdome there were numerous incidents of rape and other violence. A young woman tourist from Australia got swept up in that maelstrom and gave a first-hand account of how they had to form a protective cordon and were breaking off chair legs and the like to fend off attackers.

One member of the local police bugged out, in his cruiser, to New York with his family - he later called back to let them know where to find the cruiser. Other members of the local law enforcement were later found to be collaborating with the gangs.

Wherever you hear "public safety" or "for the children" or "common sense gun laws" be especially wary and skeptical. That's Bloomberg-speak for firearm confiscation."

Rev. Franklin Graham responded Thursday after the Christian magazine that his late father founded published an editorial calling for President Donald Trump’s removal.

Christianity Today — founded by famed evangelist Rev. Billy Graham — published its article one day after House Democrats, in a largely party-line vote, voted to impeach Trump.

PA Attorney General Says 80% Receivers Are Firearms

Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Josh Shapiro issued an opinion declaring that 80% lower receivers are considered firearms and are therefore subject to all the relative laws of complete firearms. This comes in response to a request for advice from the Pensylvania State Police Commissioner, Colonel Robert Evanchick.

“My Office is taking the initial step of clarifying – through my official, legal opinion – that under Pennsylvania law, 80% receivers are firearms and can be treated, regulated, and enforced as such,” Shapiro said Monday. “The proliferation of these untraceable weapons strikes at the heart of our public safety, hindering law enforcement’s ability to protect our communities. Today, we take the first step in addressing this problem.”

Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish: Waite Rawls Retires

The really great news of today, outside of the fact the Democrats just elected Trump in November 2020, is that Christy Coleman and Waite Rawls are out of the Confederate destruction business as of January 1, 2020!
Sadly however, is Coleman now moves against our Colonial ancestors and the Virginia Repukes are cheering her on...
