The world system is breaking down. Much of the old system that we have been carrying is unsupportable. It will be a better system once the old order is gone. The old order will not go without a fight.

Texas is designing a degree system that will cost the student $10,000. I don't see why the cost shouldn't be more on the order of $2,000. We have the Internet.

The US is well positioned with its TEA Parties to come out on top of this upheaval. But it will not be pretty here either."

26th North Carolina
Colonel Henry King Burgwyn, Jr., Lt. Col. John R. Lane, Sgt. Jefferson Mansfield, and Pvt. John Vinson Pettigrew’s Brigade - Heth’s Division - Hill’s Corps

The 26th North Carolina Regiment started the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg with 800 men. By sunset, 588 of them were either dead or wounded. Yelling like demons, they had courageously charged and taken the formidable federal position on Seminary Ridge. Fourteen colorbearers in the 26th were shot down in succession. One of them was 21 year old Henry King Burgwyn, the youngest colonel in the Confederate army, who stained the flag with his blood as he fell wrapped in it’s folds.

Within seconds a bullet entered his heart and the officer pitched forward drenching the standard with his blood. Lt. George Wilcox pulled the blood soaked flag from underneath Mcreery’s lifeless form and pushed ahead into the maelstrom. After a few steps, two rounds pierced his chest, but he survived.

Fearing that his troops might falter at this critical juncture Burgwyn seized the flag staff from Wilcox. With his outstretched sword in one hand and the flag in the other, he ordered the regiment to "Dress on the colors". Mortally wounded Col. Burgwyn is said to have whispered, "I know my gallant men will do their duty. Where is my sword?" Then he was gone.

Fourteen different color bearers from the 26th North Carolina, including their "boy colonel", Henry Burgwyn had been killed or grievously wounded holding aloft the regiment's colors.

Despite suffering enormous casualties in their fight with the 24th Michigan and the rest of the Iron Brigade, Lt. Col. J.R. Lane lifted the flag once more and yelled, "twenty-sixth, follow me!" The fight for Herbst Woods proved to be the bloodiest regimental fight in the Civil War's bloodiest battle. The 26th North Carolina lost 687 out of 843 men at Gettysburg and the 24th Michigan suffered 73% casualties. These two units suffered more casualties than any other regiments in their respective armies.

Virginia OKs Bill To Likely Close Most Abortion Clinics

"Virginia took a big step Thursday toward eliminating most of the state's 21 abortion clinics, approving a bill that would likely make rules so strict the medical centers would be forced to close, Democrats and abortion rights supporters said.

Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican and Catholic, supports the measure and when he signs it into law, Virginia will become the first state to require clinics that provide first-trimester abortions to meet the same standards as hospitals. The requirement could include anything from expensive structural changes like widening hallways to increased training and mandatory equipment the clinics currently don't have."

Last Friday, the House tacked defunding of the anti-gun ObamaCare law onto the "continuing resolution," which is required to fund the federal government through September 30.

In a series of four votes, the House approved:

* An amendment offered by Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT) to defund ObamaCare for the next six months;

* Two amendments sponsored by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) to defund previously appropriated provisions of ObamaCare; and,

* An amendment offered by Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO) to defund IRS implementation of the "individual mandate," which is the ObamaCare requirement that forces Americans to cough up their medical information which could later be used by the FBI to block gun purchases (and forces them to buy government-approved insurance).

In addition, the House, by a sizable majority, adopted the Boren-Rehberg amendment to defund ATF's efforts to create a new gun registry for many multiple gun sales. (Rep. Dan Boren is a Democrat from Oklahoma.)

Gun Owners of America contacted every member of the House of Representatives prior to the vote on the Boren-Rehberg amendment. This is an important provision that will stop the ATF's attempts to illegally register gun owners.

Since last year, the ATF has been trying to require licensed firearms dealers (in some states) to report to the government the sale of two or more semi-automatic rifles that are .22 caliber or greater, that can accept a detachable magazine, and that are purchased by the same person within five business days.

The House's actions last week put us in a position where 41 senators can force Democrats to either:

1. Defund the anti-gun ObamaCare, plus ATF's unlawful gun registry; or

2. Shut down the non-essential functions of the Obama administration, including ATF.

Shutting down the ATF would represent a boon for gun owners' rights. (Click here to see GOA's report on the most recent egregious abuse by the ATF.)

The fight to defang the ATF -- and to repeal ObamaCare -- are two top priorities at Gun Owners of America.

Given that there are 47 Republicans in the Senate -- and 51 senators who purport to oppose ObamaCare's mandate that you buy insurance you don't want -- you would think that defunding ObamaCare and the ATF would be an imminently winnable fight, right?

Well, let's hope so. Because you can be sure of this... if the shoe were on the other foot, Senator Barack Obama (in 2008) would NOT have shied away from shutting down the non-essential functions of the Bush administration in order to get his way.

Heck, no!

The good news is that we have the vehicle to kill ObamaCare and the ATF's unlawful multiple sales registry -- if we just have the will to do so.

ACTION: Contact your two Senators and insist they filibuster any version of the "continuing resolution" which does not defund ObamaCare and bar funds for ATF's unlawful multiple gun sales registry.
