U.S. Spy and Military Agencies Heard Benghazi Attackers Using State Dept Cell Phones To Call Terrorist Leaders During Attack

Via Susan

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 used cell phones, seized from State Department personnel during the attacks, and U.S. spy agencies overheard them contacting more senior terrorist leaders to report on the success of the operation, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News.

The disclosure is important because it adds to the body of evidence establishing that senior U.S. officials in the Obama administration knew early on that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and not a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video that had gone awry, as the administration claimed for several weeks after the attacks.

Extermination Considered for Those in the Path of Progress ( Sound familar?)

Don Troiani - Bonnie Blue Flag
Bonnie Blue Flag

The idea of exterminating Americans in the path of progress was not new in 1869 -- Parson Brownlow, later Reconstruction Governor of Tennessee, declared in New York in 1862:  “If I had the power, I would arm every wolf, panther, catamount and bear in the mountains of America, every crocodile in the swamps of Florida, every Negro in the South, every fiend in hell, clothe them all in the uniforms of the Federal army and turn them loose on the rebels of the South and exterminate every man, woman and child south of the Mason Dixon line.  I would like to see especially the Negro troops, marching under Ben Butler, crowd the last rebel into the Gulf of Mexico and drown them as the Devil did the hogs in the Sea of Galilee.”

Extermination Considered for Those in the Path of Progress

“After the close of the Civil War the Commissioner of Indian Affairs reported the number of Indians in these figures: civilized, 97,000; semi-civilized, 125,000; wholly barbarous, 78,000. The advancing fronts of [western white migration] suddenly became even more threatening as the Union Pacific Railroad cut across the middle of the Indian Territory in 1869 and as other lines pushed ahead of settlement into the northern plains and the southwest.

This critical change was noted in a telling passage of his 1869 report by [former Northern general and] Secretary of the Interior Jacob D. Cox:

“The completion of one of the great lines of railway to the Pacific coast has totally changed the conditions under which the civilized population of the country come[s] in contact with the wild tribes . . . the very center of the desert has been pierced.  Daily trains are carrying thousands of our citizens and untold values of merchandise across the continent, and must be protected from the danger of having hostile tribes on either side of the route.  The range of the buffalo is being rapidly restricted, and the chase is becoming an uncertain reliance to the Indian for the sustenance of his family . . . “

The situation of the Indian thus became more desperate and the years from 1865 to 1870 were filled with war and threats of war.  At the opening of Grant’s administration it was obvious that Indian policy had to be reconsidered.  Three possibilities were discussed:  (1.) Extermination; (2.) compulsory location of the tribes on reservations; (3.) eventual civilization, with full absorption into white culture.

The prevailing sentiment on the frontier was in favor of extermination.  The savage tribes were entitled, in this view, to no more consideration than dangerous wild beasts, and like them should be killed off to make way for civilization – and land.  Such sentiments were abhorred in the East and among the religious denominations.

Compulsory settlement . . . on reservations with government rations, clothing, and certain services was by far the dominant opinion . . . [Secretary of the Interior Columbus Delano reported in 1873 that under government supervision that the Indian’s] intellectual, moral and religious culture can be prosecuted, and thus it is hoped than humanity and kindness may take the place of barbarity and cruelty.

[Should any tribes refuse] then the policy contemplates the treatment of such tribe or band with all needed severity, to punish them for outrages according to their merits, thereby teaching them that it is better to follow the advice of the Government, live upon reservations and become civilized, than to continue their native habits and practices.”

“I Cannot Speak of My Dead So Soon”

After his release from imprisonment in 1867, President Jefferson Davis journeyed to Canada where he met several Confederate leaders in exile at today’s Niagara-on-the-Lake, directly across the river from Old Fort Niagara.  Available from the Niagara Historical Society [Canadian] is Nicholas Rescher’s excellent “Niagara-on-the-Lake as a Confederate Refuge.”

“I Cannot Speak of My Dead So Soon”

“After Mr. Davis became somewhat stronger he travelled to Niagara and Toronto, to visit Mr. James M. Mason, and a number of other Confederates who had not yet returned home, and with cheerful intercourse among friends he slowly improved.

His friends desired to know something of his life in prison, but he was always disinclined to speak of injuries inflicted upon himself, and had a nervous horror of appearing to be a victim.

He felt the pressing need there was, while the events were fresh in his mind, to write a history of the Confederacy, and I thought my desire to assist him would overcome any patriotic memory.  Mr. Davis sent for his letter and message books, which had been secretly taken from their place of concealment, sent to Canada in the trunk of our sister, and deposited in the Bank of Montreal.  We looked them over to mark, for copying, such of the contents as would be of use, and I was to copy and arrange them by dates. We came very soon upon this telegram:

“Danville, April 9, 1865.

“General R.E. Lee: You will realize the reluctance I feel to leave the soil of Virginia, and appreciate my anxiety to win success north of the Roanoke . . . I hope soon to hear from you at this point, where offices have been opened to keep up the current business, until more definite knowledge would enable us to form more definite plans.  May God sustain and guide you.

“Jefferson Davis”

All the anguish of that last great struggle came over us, we saw our gaunt, half-clothed, and half-starved men stand vibrating with courage to their finger-tips, their thin ranks a wall of fire about their homes; we saw them mowed down by a countless host of enemies, overcome, broken in health and fortune, moving along the highways to their desolated homes, sustained only by the memory of having vindicated their honor.

{Mr. Davis] walked up and down distractedly, and then said, “Let us put them down for awhile, I cannot speak of my dead so soon.”

Curved Patriot Plates and a great new plate carrier from Condor!

Via WiscoDave

Since we came up with Patriot Plate, customer response has been phenomenal.  We have gotten tons of quality body armor into the hands of Patriots across the country.  (49 states that we know of!  Connecticut doesn’t allow for online purchases of body armor)

One question that we get regularly is whether or not curved plates are available.  To date the answer has been no.  We didn’t curve our plates because it’s been too expensive.

Our steel guy’s solution involved making special dies to put in the five inch middle of the plate and “pressing” down on the two and a half inch side (the part with the shooter’s cut on it).  The down side is that based on our volume of sales, this would almost double the cost of our plates.  Our mission was to produce quality body armor at a reasonable price, so we immediately realized that this method was a non-starter.

We didn’t rest.  Just like the initial challenges of Patriot Plate, we don’t give up at the first challenge.
Our goal in creating curved plates was to somehow keep as much of the plate flat as possible, while curving a small portion to:
