Confederate Soldiers Were Not Traitors

 

The following is a letter-to-the-editor of the Charleston, SC Post and Courier September 15, 2018 defending the crew of the CSS Hunley. It applies to all Confederates soldiers.

Dear Editor of The Post and Courier,

A letter writer on September 12, 2018 is adamant that the proposed museum for the Confederate submarine H. L. Hunley should not be incorporated into Patriot’s Point because Patriot’s Point honors the U.S. Navy and those “who defended the U.S. and its Constitution” whereas the CSS Hunley crew were traitors.

He is correct that the Hunley’s sinking of the USS Housatonic to become the first submarine in history to sink an enemy ship in combat was an historic event, but he errs grievously when he says the Hunley should also be remembered “for their pardons for treason.” That is fake history.

Former top FBI lawyer James Baker gave "explosive" closed-door testimony on Wednesday detailing for congressional investigators how the Russia probe was handled in an "abnormal fashion" reflecting "political bias," according to two Republican lawmakers present for the deposition. 

"Some of the things that were shared were explosive in nature," Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., told Fox News. "This witness confirmed that things were done in an abnormal fashion. That's extremely troubling."

McConnell sets key Kavanaugh vote for Friday

Senate Republicans filed cloture on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination on Wednesday, paving the way for a weekend showdown over the Supreme Court.

The move by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will allow the chamber to vote on ending debate on Kavanaugh’s nomination Friday under the chamber’s rules.

If Kavanaugh overcomes the procedural hurdle, the Senate could then take a final vote on his nomination as early as Saturday.

McConnell pledged earlier Wednesday that the chamber would vote on Kavanaugh this week, despite what he argued were attempts by Democrats to delay or stall the nomination.

Bill Lee Strong in Gubernatorial Debate with Karl ‘Marx’ Dean

A Tuesday Tennessee gubernatorial debate in Memphis between Republican candidates Bill Lee and Democrat Karl Dean revealed, perhaps not unexpectedly, Lee is a conservative and Dean is a left-winger.

That was most evident in how both men answered panelists’ questions during the televised event.
This after various mainstream media outlets last week tried to portray Dean as a political moderate.

GOP senator: Kavanaugh protestors are 'paid activists' & Trump: Voters Are ‘REALLY ANGRY’ over Democrats Mistreating Kavanaugh

Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) on Wednesday described those protesting Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court as "paid activists".

Appearing on Laura Ingraham's syndicated radio show, Perdue said that Republicans should not be swayed by protestors and should "grow up and start playing defense."

“These are not genuine people who are concerned about Dr. Ford or anything else, these are paid activists,” he said. 

"This is a George Soros conspiracy, and it’s time we wake up, expose them, stand up and fight for our country, because that’s what’s at stake here,” Perdue added, referring to the billionaire activist who has donated to liberal social causes.

The previous article, with material taken from the book Confederate Courier about the trial of John Surratt Jr. almost reads like a playbook for much of what goes on in Washington in 2018. It’s truly amazing how little some things change. Or maybe you could say the more they change the more they stay the same.

The trial of John Surratt Jr. was never only about Surratt. He was the vehicle used by the Deep State of his day i.e. Edwin Stanton and the Radical Republicans, the Yankee Marxists.

On page 138 was noted a letter that said, in part, “Mr. Matchett then requested me to mention to Surratt there was a means by which he could save his neck, have the shackles struck from his arms, and have his mother’s name rescued from odium if he would give the name of someone high in position who might have prompted the assassination as he and his party were no doubt tools in the hands of more important personages and that he need not look to Andrew Johnson for pardon as he dare not do it.

Former Dem Candidate Claims Relationship with Julie Swetnick: ‘I Do Not Believe Her Allegations’

 

 Ketterer then claims in his letter that Julie Swetnick’s own father told him years later that she “had psychological and other problems.”

Senate Republicans released an explosive letter about Julie Swetnick from a man named Dennis Ketterer Tuesday, who claimed that he had a brief relationship with Swetnick and that he does not believe her allegations about Brett Kavanaugh.

Ketterer’s letter claims he met Julie Swetnick in 1993 during a difficult period in his marriage.

Swetnick, who is represented by Resistance TV lawyer Michael Avenatti, recently made headlines after accusing Brett Kavanaugh of being present at high school parties where there were gang rapes. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, saying, “I don’t know who this is and this never happened.”

Dennis Ketterer claims that during his relationship with Swetnick, he had a conversation with her about how she liked group sex.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) put Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in his place Wednesday.

 

Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer is doing everything he can to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation vote.

On Tuesday, Chuck Schumer told Mitch McConnell he wanted an FBI briefing on Brett Kavanaugh’s report 24 hrs before the Senate votes on cloture to end debate on the nomination.

“It is essential that Senators not only have access to the completed background investigation file, but that FBI officials be made available 24 hours before the Senate votes on cloture in order to answer Senators’ questions about what specific investigative steps were taken, what evidence was collected, and which witnesses were interviewed,” Schumer said in a letter to McConnell.

McConnell shot down Schumer’s request Wednesday in a letter.
