But isn't a Walmart on the Wilderness battlefield the ideal monument (for the Yankees who fought there)?
That is what the Yankees fought for -- Commercial and collective interests to the detriment of individual and local interests.
Whether or not they knew it, they fought for Hamiltonianism, mercantilist interests, and nationalism. They crushed Jeffersonianism (but didnt kill it), popular sovereignty, state's rights, and the idea of the voluntary republic.
So why not a Walmart? If not a Walmart, how bout a new FEMA camp?
Keeping in mind what this country has become, if they plant a Target, Walmart, Home Depot, or new Department of Homeland Security megaplex on such hallowed ground, the sacrifice of our CSA ancestors the cause for which they fought is further vindicated.

Yes, everything they fought against has come true.
