Senate Approves Bill that Legalizes Bestiality in U.S. Military

Via Cousin Joel
The Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals--or bestiality.

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

  1. Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

It states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

I believe the issue here is what EXACTLY is "sodomy"? I won't go into graphic details on your page, but... May I delicately suggest that many, many servicemembers who went to Vietnam, South Korea, the Phillipines, Mexico, and other such places have partaken of certain socially taboo practices?

I will be the first to admit to that. My arrival at Subic Bay as an 18-yr old virgin country boy from Alabama almost killed me! lol...

Many of us are of the opinion that standards change with time, morals change with time, and perhaps a prohibition against "sodomy" should be dropped.

Speaking of standards, would NEWT GINGRICH have been able to run for office, say, 50 years ago? Multiple divorces; he left his wife while she was in the hospital for his mistress, who he was already seeing, etc.

Many years ago, such a man would not be tolerated socially... Now, he's the front-runner for the party that professes to be the most religious.

    I just don't understand...
