An English teacher sparked outrage across France today after calling for her pupils to observe a minute’s silence for Toulouse serial killer Mohammed Merah.
In disturbing scenes at Gustave Flaubert High School in Rouen, Normandy, Lorraine Collin, 56, described the 23-year-old who murdered seven including three children as himself being the ‘victim of an unhappy childhood’.
Luc Chatel, France’s Education Minister, called for Ms Collin to be ‘suspended immediately’, saying he ‘condemned this unspeakable behaviour without reservation’.

At least the kids stormed out and were supported by the headmaster. If that happened in the US the kids that left would have been reprimanded and the entire school would have had to observe the moment of silence.
ReplyDeleteHey Brock. I'm the one that lives in Michigan and was asking about new places to move to. Just for a quick update I have two interviews with companies in North Carolina next week and 1 in Montana. The great part is that a headhunter actually called me last week and asked if I was interested in re-locating. Oh the coincidence. Thanks again for your previous input.
ReplyDeleteGreat. Where are the two in NC?
ReplyDeleteOne is in Charlotte and the other is in the Raleigh/Durham area. Is one better than the other? I'd probably try and find a smaller town outside of the larger areas to live at, and then commute into the city.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer Raleigh since I was born there.:) Needless to say it ain't like it used to be, but as you stated, you can live elsewhere. What day is your interview in Raleigh?
ReplyDeleteIt's on Thursday but it is a phone interview. My interview in Charlotte is on Wednesday and that is also a phone interview.
DeleteOh, I thought you were coming here. If/when you do be sure and let me know.
ReplyDeleteWell if next week goes well I should be down the following week. I'll for sure keep you updated.
DeleteI'll give him a moment of silence....for the time it takes me to reload a magazine.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
