Breaking: There are food deserts in these United States’

Where do these Collectivists come up with this crap?

- Barack Obama's vision as president is shaped by the fact that he knows what "it's like to take a subway or a bus just to find a fresh piece of fruit in a grocery store," Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan said last week.

Donovan seemed to be suggesting that the president had once lived in what First Lady Michelle Obama now refers to as a "food desert"--a place without a nearby supermarket. The First Lady has launched an initiative to eliminate these places.

“Why has all this work been such a priority for the president and every one of us in the administration?” Donovan said. “Because he knows what you know: He knows what it’s like to walk the halls of public housing because he’s worked there.”

  1. If the First Klingon wants to solve the "food desert" problem, all she needs to do is figure out how to run a supermarket through bulletproof glass.

Even .gov offices in 'da Hood require bulletproof glass, armed guards and metal-detectors.

Supermarkets cannot stay in business in such places due to the violence and criminality endemic in the population.

    It really is that simple.

Damn good point. I hadn't thought of it.

  3. There isn't a business in that part of any city that isn't surrounded by bulletproof glass.

Damn near EVERY liquor-store has everything behind the glass. Many of the "convenience" stores as well... You tell them what you want, they put it in a "turntable" type deal that spins around so you can take your stuff out.

Even the food-joints have something to keep the animals out - remember the cages in that "hood-brawl" vid you posted a few days ago?

No way I can see to run a grocery-store under such conditions, nor would anyone with sense be willing to invest in such an obviously-DOOMED business!

    What's the solution? I don't know...

Used to be that they thought by spreading such folks out among more civilized types, the civilization would rub off on them. Unfortunately, the results from all I've seen were exactly the opposite... They brought the problems with them out to the 'burbs...

Locking up an extra ~350,000 has certainly reduced crime, but... they SAY that legalizing abortion has also helped reduce crime by removing a bunch of future criminals before they got started... Sounds harsh - so it's probably true...

One thing I *KNOW* - the "war on (some) drugs" is an utter failure - and locking up petty criminals for drugs is stupid...
Prison's like "scumbag university" - when they get out they have lots of new "education" and frequently don't waste any time putting it to use... Now the user (or even small-time dealer) is a REAL criminal, born-bred-raised and educated in "Scumbag University" at taxpayer expense...

Sometimes I think we need to bring back flogging - or try the musloids' solution and cut off a hand... In any case, we need to START by ending the failed WO(s)D!!

Legalize them all. Just think, all the cartels out of business and crime decreases dramatically.
