A group of illegal immigrants who want to emerge from the shadows are crossing the country in a bus en route to their final destination of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., NBC News reported.
The group is calling it the “Undocubus” tour, which began in Phoenix on July 29, and most recently made stops in Tennessee.
The 30 or so housekeepers, day laborers, students and immigration activists hope to raise public awareness of the plight of living in an atmosphere of fear and oppression. They want to “make front and center a problem they feel President Obama has failed to confront,” according to the New York Times, which first reported on the bus tour.
“The No Papers No Fear Ride for Justice" is a national delegation of undocumented people and allies that left Phoenix on the anniversary of the state's implementation of SB1070 and is travelling across the country to rally the migrant community to overcome fear and organize to challenge anti-immigrant policies,” a statement on the group’s website says.
The bus tour has made stops in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, NBC News reported. The tour is drawing criticism from some who think that the group members should be detained.
“They’re illegal immigrants advertising the fact and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) needs to pull them over and detain them,” Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center of Immigration Studies, a think tank that supports tighter immigration controls, told NBC News. “I mean, it’s as simple as that. … You can’t arrest every illegal immigrant, but it seems to me advertising your illegality ought to be reason enough for you to be detained and removed from the country as a priority and the fact that they’re not is outrageous.”
NBC’s story drew thousands of online comments.
“Nice so now the illegal aliens are so ‘empowered’ and bold they openly spit in our faces,” one person wrote. “This country is so upside down. What a joke we have become.”
Another wrote, “Gamechanger here folks. When lawbreaking people feel empowered to brazenly and openly declare their lack of care for U.S. laws it's a major problem. It's time for the government to take steps to reform immigration policy, not just talk about it.”

" Brazenly and openly declare their lack of care for U.S. law ", Like the " Gang of 535 " and a chief executive who scoff and totally disregard the foundation of a nation ?.
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty much exactly like that....
ReplyDeleteI missed them when they stopped in Colorado. They may be crossing the country but America it aint. I hope they get through the Dark Corners area without looking like the bus in old Clint's movie, The Gauntlet.
ReplyDeleteYup, yup and yup.:)
ReplyDeleteHow far do you think they'd get before being stopped and cavity-searched if they were 100% "clean" but painted "NORML" down the side of the bus, or otherwised advertised that they were "marijuana advocates"?
ReplyDeleteBetter yet, whaddya figure the "over/under" would be on the maximum number of miles they'd make BETWEEN searches of the bus and the (ahem) "cavities" of all on board?
This is where The Government Party has brought us, people.
We're letting murderers and rapists out of prison early so we can free up space to lock up productive people who dare to imbibe a PLANT - ONE THAT GROWS *WILD* IN MUCH OF THE COUNTRY, AND WHICH not only did MOST OF OUR FOUNDERS BOTH FARM AND SMOKE, but some 8 of 10 of *US* admit having at least "tried" at some point in our lives!
Meanwhile, we've also forfeited much of our Liberty and rights to enable a "war" on this plant and other private, consensual behavior which would truly be "VICTIMLESS" if not for the arbitrary and unconstitutional prohibition thereof.
At the same time, any remaining "rights" we may have once possessed are sacrificed to another "war" - this one on a method (ie:"terrorism") employed by the actual enemy (ie:musloids) instead of the enemy itself - equivalent to having declared war on "aviation" in December of 1941 instead of JAPAN!
Meanwhile they declare "full-scale war" on any and all citizens engaging in the aforementioned private, consensual and victimless behavior, they leave the highways by which the substances in question are trafficked wide open, allowing untold thousands of couriers to move about with absolute impunity, even sacrificing thousands of square miles of sovereign US territory to them.
Best of all, the radical musloids are physically indistinguishable from mestizo "drug couriers", and we KNOW that the former often accompany the latter in making illegal entry, yet we STILL do nothing of worth to secure our border or find and remove the criminals and terrorists, instead concentrating our efforts on citizens harming nobody but (perhaps, arguably) themselves.
The old adage to "never ascribe to malice what can be explained by ignorance" is still good advice, but anyone who thinks THIS is anything BUT intentional and malicious is an insufferable FOOL.
11+ years post 9-11 our borders are at least as porous as they were then, and by all indications untold numbers of terrorists continue to make regular, free and unobstructed entrance.
30+ years into "The War On (some) Drugs" - after the wasting of incalculable sums of money and numbers of LIVES - drugs of all kinds are cheaper and more readily-available in higher quality than they were before.
The *ONLY* thing which has been reduced by these specious "wars" are the rights, Liberty and Freedom of We The People - US Citizens.
If this were the plot of a pulp-fiction paperback, nobody would read it as it would be almost unbelievable.
Yet, here we are....
Should be in MAD.
