The First Americans

 
 
Who were the first Americans? Forty years ago, historians, archeologists, and anthropologists would have answered conclusively that the first Americans arrived from Eastern Asia via a land bridge across the Bering Strait around twelve thousand years ago.  
 
These were the Clovis peoples, an early American people essentially discovered by former slave George McJunkin in 1908 after he uncovered a prehistoric bison skeleton and an early stone point in a New Mexico dry river bed.  But things change, and as Liberty Classroom members know, the historical “consensus” is not always accurate.

    The BOOK OF MORMON tells of the first Americans, people who migrated to the American continent, by boat, when the Lord scattered the people who were building the Tower of Babel.

    Subsequent migration came from Israel, fleeing ahead of invading Babylonians.

    Of that group, some built ships and left the American continent, settling the Polynesian islands.

    For a time, the resurrected Jesus Christ dwelt among these people, teaching and ministering to them.

    Eventually, over time, these new Americans divided into separate, rival nations, warring with each other until they ultimately rendered each other nearly extinct, with the survivors degenerating in ignorance, immorality, and savagery, resembling beasts in the wilderness.

    I just now Googled "UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN".

    Here is what the response was from The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints:

    I was baptized in 1967 when I was 21 years old.

    Since then, I've been exposed to a multitude of sophisticated and/or intellectual criticisms of my chosen faith, so I'm used to it, and it doesn't bother me.

    At the same time, I have my own personal questions, disagreements, and/or disputes with some of the leaders, statements, pronouncements, and/or policies of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints.

    But, I try to follow the example of Peter in JOHN 6:66-69

    EVERYTHING in The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints stands or falls on one single issue, i.e., is the BOOK OF MORMON the word of God, or is it fake?

    Each individual must seek that answer for themselves, by studying the BOOK OF MORMON, and asking God if it is true or false.

    If it is true, that means Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God, Jesus Christ really was resurrected, and the Mormon church is truly the church of Jesus Christ.

    If the BOOK OF MORMON is not the word of God, and it is fake, that means Joseph Smith was a fantastic con artist, and EVERYTHING about The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints is a fraudulent criminal enterprise.

    But, each individual has to find out for themselves, and there's only one way to do it.

    You start by reading the BOOK OF MORMON.
