Over priced for a rifle that's more than 50% low end reproduction parts, spray on finish and a "close but not" reproduction "C" stock. Look at it from my POV , I have two all G.I. M-1903Mk1's in near mint condition and have less than 1500$ in both of them. $899 IS NOT a "good deal" for that pile of reproduction parts. P.S The resale on that is LESS than 600$ because it is S*** sure NOT a "collectors item"----Ray
Brock --within the last five years. I paid 650$ for # 115XXX and traded a used AK and a used SKS for #116XXX. Number 116XXX still has all the pre 1919 parts(except the barrel) and the pre 1910 single stock bolt- high wood "S" stock and is in near mint condition--in fact I don't think its been fired since an April or May '42 re-barrel (2-42 date) # 115XXX is a typical WW-2 M-1903Mk1 re built as a service rifle in June of 1942. Its the one I shoot. But hell brock I only paid 1200$ for my type 1 NM M-1 Garand (about 99% condition I got it in 2011)---Ray
Instead of bashing a product designed for people who want a specific weapon without dealing with the "purist" cult of some collectors, how about you share with us your "hookup" on those Mark I's, or better yet, offer your sage-like wisdom on how to acquire affordable 1903's....teach, coach and mentor the novice firearms collector. Or just sit down and stop raising a ruckus. Brock, love the website, been following it for awhile.

I picked up an 03A3 that was butchered it had been fitted with a match rear site and the back of the receiver was ground for fitting. I paid under 500.00 I then picked up a shake and bake 03 receiver with stripped bolt for 129.00 from aim surplus. Plan on sand blasting and parking (zinc) the sprayed receiver and then parting out the bolt/receiver left over. Not 100% original but same receiver Remington and serials are close.
I went to the original sight and it sucked. I don't sporterize or modify anything- the 03-A3 looked new when ever the guy got it - bbl was marked 4-43. I haven't done the blasting or parking yet. I have the tanks set up. I will get it done by next weekend.
They are right up the road from me. Have to stop in one day.
ReplyDeleteGreat, family company and all my/friend's transactions with them have been flawless.
