Incumbent Democrat Kay Hagan trails her two leading Republican challengers in Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the 2014 U.S. Senate race in North Carolina.

A new statewide survey of Likely North Carolina Voters shows Thom Tillis, the Republican speaker of the state House of Representatives, leading Hagan by seven points - 47% to 40%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

  1. Tillis is nothing but a hard core politician. The choice between them is like choosing between Obama and McCain. One is bad, the other one worse. I wish Greg Brannon's campaign would catch fire but I fear he is having a hard time raising enough funds. It's hard to do without selling your soul, something most politicians have no problem doing.

  2. I can't say a choice between Tillis and Hagan is particularly inspiring. More like a reminder that we're not going to be able to vote our way out of this mess.
