RALEIGH — Wake County residents can now go online to apply for pistol purchases and concealed weapon permits.
The new service will start on Monday, Capt. James Stevens with the Wake County sheriff’s office said.
County residents will pay a nominal fee to use the online service that’s intended to make the permitting process more convenient and less time consuming, Stevens said.
The sheriff’s office processed 92,729 pistol purchase permits from 2010 until 2013. The sheriff’s office also processed 28,189 concealed handgun permits during the same period, Stevens said.
