NC: Conetoe man bags 500 pound wild boar

Via Knuckledraggin' My Life Away

Conetoe is across a big field from Dixieland and reminds me of my departed cousin Earl who lived there in his similar Federal house.

A hunter in North Carolina has solved has food bill for the next year after tracking and killing a mammoth wild boar weighing in at over 500 pounds.

Veteran hunter Jett Webb, of Conetoe, bagged the beast last month using his .308 caliber rifle after baiting the animal for over a month.

'It was very surreal,' Webb told WSPA. 'It was a shock. It was very humbling to say the least, when you walk up on a beast that big and you say, "Oh my gosh. I had no idea that there could be something that big running around the woods of Eastern North Carolina.'"

  1. Impossible. We've been told for years that the AR platform is completely unsuitable for hunting purposes. And did you see the size of that magazine/clip thingie? The poor animal must be riddled with bullets....

    3. Mr. Anon, you appear to suffer from sarcasm deficit disorder. And you don't know me very well (said in Bugs Bunny's voice).

  2. All you need is one shot from a .308 that hog will drop in its tracks. Every hog I have shot never moved once it was hit with a properly placed shot from that caliber. If you don't know hat you are talking about stay on the porch.

  3. Well, the chops, roasts, and bacon might be a bit gamey from that boar, but it sure would make some good summer sausage. ;-)

  4. I know Brock. Don't give up on me. It looks like I'm going to have more opportunities to come back your way. Unless something comes up that I'm not expecting, I plan on being at the fall PatCon. I'm also going to be down the first part of August. Looks like DD and SIL will either be staying in VA or going to Camp Lejuene. So see, you're not going to get rid of me that easily! ;-)
