Parents across the country may hold the key to this year's mid-term elections as they vent their anger over the implementation of a controversial education achievement measure called the Common Core State Standards Initiative.
Forty-five states and the District of Columbia have adopted the initiative in a bid, they say, to improve education standards in Math and English, and give new life to what many view as a sagging education system. Indiana recently voted to back out of Common Core.
But many parents see the initiative as a bid by the federal government to take over the education system. They are also angry over the "data mining" of students' personal information, and say the stepped-up standards are not age-appropriate and are leading to anxiety and depression in their children.

If the parents think they are going to buck this by throwing out the lying thieving governors and legislators that are allowing this to happen, beware. As the graphic displays so accurately: They want your child and will stop at nothing ! The 9th District Court of Appeals (that pointy-headed one out in San Fran) has ruled that parents have no rights once their child walks in the school door on anything. The SAT and ACT college entrance exams are going to be Core Curriculum friendly, so home-schooled students will have that to consider if they want to go on to college.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that will give Patrick Henry College https://www.phc.edu/ a big boost as they prefer homeschoolers and one of the founders also started HSLDA. http://hslda.org/
DeleteThat's fantastic about Patrick Henry College. I wonder about Hillsdale College, as it is not like the rest of the pack. The HSLDA is the organization that helped Romeikes stay in America. I have been following that from the get-go, and was so relieved and happy that they can stay...it's a miracle of sorts.
ReplyDeleteYes, I forgot about Hillsdale and I imagine there are a few others also. The HSLDA is a no-brainer, as it is only $10 a month and besides other benefits, it gives you free legal representation in any homeschool matter.
Deletewell worth it for sure )
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteHere's a home-schooling family in trouble in Texas for no good reason. This is enraging. Sounds like they have a good lawyer.

Thanks and I read something briefly about this before. I would asumme the HSLDA knows about this, but I'll send them a link anyway.
