He needs to go. To think that my 6th great grandfather came over in 1709 with Baron Graffenreid and founded New Bern the next year.
Tuscaroras And (My Family)
******************************
One-thousand “brothers in blue” came to pay their respects this afternoon to Officer Alexander Thalmann, 22, killed in the line of duty in New Bern, N.C., last week.
Thalmann’s partner, Officer Justin Wester, 23, is recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg from the shootout that left convicted felon, Bryan Stallings, 35, dead.
The incident happened March 28, in the housing projects known as Craven Terrace.
The town’s grief was made even more painful by the local administration’s handling of events following the young officer's death.
For unknown reasons, newly elected, Mayor Dana Outlaw chose to attend Thursday’s funeral of the career criminal.
Adding insult to injury, last night’s planned memorial for local citizens to say “goodbye” to Alexander Thalmann was cancelled by the mayor’s office.

Wish I didn't know this. New Bern was first on my list of places I should have visited but never will. My ancestor, Michael Samuel DeBruhl, came to America as a soldier in Cornwallis's Army and stayed as a silversmith in New Bern and is buried there. At about the time of your PATCON his heirs will have their annual reunion at Tuscarora NC. There are a lot of experiences in my 81 years that I would gladly trade for one visit to New Bern.
ReplyDeleteIt's only 30/45 minutes away from here!
DeleteMy visiting comment applies equally to the Cape Carteret area. You and yours revitalized my love of my home state. FreeNorthCarolina ramps that love upward daily.
ReplyDeleteYou would be amused to attend my Denver Peripheral Neuropathy support group meeting with me and hear all the little white-haired old ladies tell of their pain-relieving results with smoking marijuana and placing THC drops under their tongues. None for me, thanks. Heh.
Heh! :)
