An Idaho man says he is glad he recently obtained a concealed weapons permit after he said he was forced to pull his gun when a man wielding a knife approached him and his two-year-old daughter on Wednesday.
“Me and my daughter were parked here and I was standing by the vehicle on the rail,” Anthony Broyles told KREM.
Father and daughter were spending the day together at Lake Coeur d’Alene.
“There was a van that was parked in that direction with two gentlemen sitting in it,” he said.

That happened to Larry over at Virtual Mirage in a movie theater parking lot. The bad guys soiled their pants when they saw his gun and retreated post haste. Moral: Everyone should be allowed to carry without the approval of the state.

ReplyDeleteCC is great but there's also "Open Carry" which here in La. does not require any sort of ".GOV certification." As the saying goes,"An armed society is a polite society." Because it's "common" to see people packin' on the street (even in Wal-Mart!) hardly anyone gives a second look. 'Great state, plenty of 'Gators, Guns and Great People.

Maybe not, but maybe he would have been more careful and cheerfully spoke to the man about something until getting closer. Obviously, we never know.
He should have shot the SOB. 15 feet away with a knife in his hand? He's lucky the guy didn't get him before he could draw.

DeleteNo offense intended to anybody...Ive seen a lot of comments on blogs to the effect of "he should have shot him" or "should have shot him a few more times" The best defensive use of a firearm is not having to shoot. While I agree that filling a bad guy full of holes is a great way to make sure that bad guy will never be a bad guy again, the best gun fight is one that you didnt have to shoot. Every circumstance is differant. Shoot if you must. Be glad if you dont have to.
