Police Dept. Requests Facebook PASSWORD From Gun Permit Applicant

 http://watervlietpolice.com/images/Chief-Boisvert.jpg
The Watervliet, N.Y., Police Department is asking pistol permit applicants for access to their Facebook accounts.
The department recently sent an applicant a form which asked for his Facebook username and password, and after the applicant complained, the department claimed the form was sent to him by mistake and was only used during face-to-face interviews when the department asks applicants for access to their Facebook accounts.

“It is… a common practice to view social media as a means to identify and determine character of a pistol permit applicant, in addition to other investigatory methods,” the department’s spokesperson told the applicant. “Typically all we ask is that an applicant access their account during an interview.”

  1. Sounds like it will also be common practice to sue police departments. This shit amounts to *ANOTHER* 'poll tax' in the way of a legal user obtaining permission to use their RIGHT to bear arms...
I'd like to think I'd have the balls to ask the asshat cop for their login information just to see what they say... GOD I hope this story gets traction and someone gets fired...

    1. to sue police departments.

Only when they are individually liable, will this crap come to a halt.

  2. "Nuke them from orbit, the only way to be sure..." Individually liable and individually shot in the face when a blue costumed and shiny tinned badged thug crosses a well defined line will this crap come to a halt. I paraphrased you Mr. Brock with out your permission, will you forgive me... here's a beer for my atonement.

  3. This is so over the top. Facebook and others are being used to spy. I read where
potential employers wanted applicants passwords to social media sites. Glad I
don't indulge. "Common practice" my foot.

I dont care to be anyones bff and I dont care what someone had for breakfast or what color their kids poop is. And as far as cops and others judging our charactor based on social media- #1 Aint none of their business and #2 refere to #1. I saw this comming.

  6. "Request" today.
    Demand tomorrow.
Mandatory compliance with the butt of a nightstick or barrel.

I hope the progtards who are always screaming for "more intervention" recognize their culpability in advancing the police state. But I doubt it.

  7. Officer Safety once again is lying to us. And once again he has earned my contempt for him. I do wish that room temperature guys like him would pull their heads out of their asses and realize that the cheapest, easist, and safest way for them to do their job is to STOP lying to we the people. To one my old man's phrases; I am have been born in the dark, but wasn't last night

Brock, to add to an above post; I'll buy you a beer just on the general prinicple of it all,
"We few, we happy few. We band of brothers".
