NC: Black Educational Fraud

It would be unreasonable to expect a student with the reading, writing and computing abilities of an eighth-grader to do well in college. If such a student were admitted, his retention would require that the college create dumbed-downed or phantom courses. The University of North Carolina made this accommodation; many athletes were enrolled in phantom courses in the department of African and African-American studies. The discovery and resulting scandal are simply the tip of the iceberg and a symptom of a much larger problem.

  1. Hard to get excited about this. It's not like anyone with a degree in Afro studies is going to get a job with it anyway. It's not like most college athletes make any pretence about being there to get an education. Even West Point had a dumbed down Physics course for their recruited football players. (called by the cadets "Physics for Poets and Lovers" and "rock physics")

  2. Ft. Valley State College in Ft. Valley, GA was an all black college and whites could
attend for free, at this time. But, hardly any whites would attend because the blacks
attacked and harassed the whites. A gal I knew that attended briefly, stated the
blacks were dumb as hell but all passed. So much for quality.

    1. Somehow, we have been "blessed" with many, truly ignorant people.

  3. The University of North Carolina is not alone. Tell me again why Political Correctness is a good thing. Where's the degree in White or Asian Studies?

    1. Whites and Asians have enough sense not to participate even if offered as it's a dead end street.
