SKS complete review and history with Jerry Miculek

  1. Why is he "flagging" it every time he does something after firing it and checking it is clear?

Why not simply sling it over your shoulder and walk up to the targets?

    Seems goofy...

    1. I have no idea and I thought peculiar also. Don't ever remember him doing that before.

    2. I think he is trying to instill a habit of safetey. Im going to try and do it. Looks like a pain in the butt, however if I prevents an accident its worth the trouble. We always keep actions open at the range.

Certainly, same here and they are all checked by the range master after each hot fire episode. You are probably correct in what he was trying to instill, but I doubt he would do that if he wasn't filming.

  2. How about doing it as way of impressing a safety technique on the rest of us? . I am sure a lot of gun guys who do know better have done some thing stupid while handling a firearm. I think he over did it, to get his point across. Why not flag a firearm that way while it sits in the gun safe, the closest or the case while traveling?

Agreed, he was the only one on the range and not necessary.

Except for my CCW, all are loaded under lock with keys in my pocket. You might not even have enough time to unlock them, much less have to load them.

  3. I'm all about safe firearms handling. I'm guessing we all are, but this seems uber silly to me.

Might as well field strip it after every shot and put each piece in a hermetically sealed container, double pad lock each container, and bury each one five miles apart from the other...six feet under the earth's surface.

    Wait...

    I just cited Ohio law.

    Never mind.
