Homeland Security Secretary
Jeh Johnson is urging those in government and the administration –
amidst the turmoil, persecution, and slaughtering of thousands in the
Middle East at the hands of Islamic radicals – to focus on the “plight
of Muslims living in this country” and the “discrimination they face.”
“I personally committed to speak out about the situation
that very often people in the Muslim community in this country face,”
Johnson said at the Countering Violent Extremism summit. “And the fact
that there are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world and that the Islamic
faith is one about peace and brotherhood.”
