Open Carry Activist’s Tense Confrontation With Police Caught on Video: ‘I’m Talking to You, Tough Guy’

Via avordvet

A high school in Madison Heights, Michigan, was put on a brief lockdown last week after a man was spotted walking nearby with a rifle slung over his shoulder. Open carry is legal in the state of Michigan, but police in the area still responded to calls from startled school administrators and attempted to talk to the gun rights activist.

The police-involved confrontation quickly grew tense as the activist, identified as Shawn Nixon of the Hell’s Saints open carry group, refused to answer any questions and lectured officers.

“How long are you going to be out here today?” an officer asked Nixon, according to a video uploaded on YouTube.

  1. Dumb ass belongs in jail. Legal or not carrying rifle in front of a school is stupid.

  2. Seems like a nice cop. I think some of these open carry stunts are hurting the
    cause.

    1. If the cops ignored him and he did go in shooting, just think.

  3. Cops knew what was happening when they arrived on scene to a guy with a fk'n GoPro strapped to his chest. They know it's the guys without the "HEY! HERE I AM WITH A GUN!" signals that should be taken seriously (according to DHS/FBI). This dude's a joke...

  4. Lucky he didnt get shot. Open carry shows the whole world what you have and where it is. Makes you a target for bad guys imo. And some of these big , druuged up or crazy thugs can be upon you quick and hard, overpower you, take your gun and kill you as quick as a hungry wolf on a fawn deer.

100%. I CCW 24/7 and would never open carry since I would give up the element of surprise. Many disagree with this, but I fail to understand why.

  5. Ok, just because you have the "right" to do some thing does not mean that you ought to or should. Some common sense if you please.
Remember the other side, are constantly looking for any thing they can use or misuse to paint ALL law abiding, peaceful, zero threat to any one else gun owners as crazies and extremists who need to be disarmed and controlled. Don't give them the "ammunition" they need to use against us? We (the good guy gun owners) have enough enemies, we don't need to be our own worst.

    1. Yes, exercise your rights in front of a police station, not a school.
